The 2006 model year of this Mustang puts it right at the beginning of the almost 10-year run of the fifth generation Mustang. When this body style was first introduced in 2005, it was a restyle revelation as it had many design cues based directly off of the original, first generation Mustang. As with any Mustang, it was only a matter of time before the “usual suspects” started turning out performance models.

This Shelby Mustang GT-H is one of 500 produced for 2006. These were not sold new to the general public, and all of them saw use as Hertz Rent-A-Racers before being turned loose to the public with low miles. This example went from Shelby to Hertz in South Carolina, after which it was sold at auction to Jacky Jones Ford in Tennessee. Most of the mileage was racked up during its time as a rental. This car comes complete with lots of original documentation, including the Certificate of Origin, window sticker, and lots of related Hertz and Shelby paperwork.

Rarity aside, the condition of this car is simply astonishing by the standards of any 13-year-old car, let alone a performance model like this. This Mustang has covered just 11,095 miles since it was new. The condition of this car is stunning to say the least; the condition reflects the mileage without a hint of doubt. It smells, feels, and drives like a brand-new car. If you rode in a Mustang of this vintage when they were new, you would without a doubt be transported back to wherever you were when you first sat in on of these as soon as you got behind the wheel of this one. The 4.6L V8 is capable of slamming you back in your seat and is a blast to drive. What an awesome tribute to the original Rent-A-Racer cars!

As can be expected, given the mileage and rarity, the paint is simply immaculate showing very little wear. Aside from some minor curb rash on the front bumper, this car is in fantastic condition. It may be the closest a buyer can get to buying a 'new' 2006 Shelby GT-H. The paint color combination is absolutely classic Hertz, and this car is sure to turn heads anywhere it goes. When was the last time you saw one in this condition, or at all? It runs, drives, and operates like a new car would.

The interior is in immaculate condition. It smells new, and everything works! As to be expected, there is no major wear on any part of the inside of this car. It really has been well-preserved. The condition of this car is sure to remind you why these were popular in the first place; something that is hard to do when all you can find are examples that have been run hard and put away wet. The automatic transmission is a big plus for anyone looking for a unique cruiser to take out on the weekends, or the person who wants a show car that is easy to drive to and from events. The correct Shelby/Hertz floor mats are in place as is the Shelby/Hertz dash panel.

Overall, this Rent-A-Racer would make a great cruiser for the weekends or a unique daily for the ambitious driver. If you're looking for something unusual to squirrel away for a few decades, this might be the car for you.
