Frame Off Built Custom Pickup 408 V8 5 Speed Manual A/C Rack & Pinion
A trophy winning cruiser that benefitted from a 2013 body-off restoration, this awesome truck began a new life as a show stopping head turner. That restoration began when its voluptuous body was stripped all the way to bare metal. Once that metal was super solid and virtually seamless, a wood bed was complemented with fiberglass fenders and stainless skid strips. A chopped bumper, massaged headlights, tweaked running boards and a custom roll pan joined smoked glass and select trim to provide the simple yet custom perfection that characterizes modern street rodding. And everything not polished was sealed in a smooth coat of Porsche Harbor Blue 2-stage. Built by Riverside Machine Shop of Charleston, Tennessee, the truck's serious road chops come in the form of a 351 cubic inch V8. And that block's serious upgrades include being bored and stroked to 408 cubic inches of blue oval bliss. Behind that mill, a Tremec TKO600 5-speed spins comfortably between a billet steel flywheel, a Street & Performance pressure plate, a McLeod hydraulic clutch and a Lakewood bellhousing. That proven gearbox drives a body-matched Ford 9-inch, which pushes what appears to be a custom, thoroughly reinforced chassis. At the nose of that chassis, a Heidts Superide II front half props the engine up using proven coil-over-shocks and modern rack-and-pinion steering. At the back of that chassis, a modern 4-bar setup utilizes two more coil-overs to maintain ride height and increase grip. 4-wheel disc brakes are a welcome addition and big performance upgrade. And everything rides on tough looking Billet Specialties wheels, which spin 215/55R17 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As in front of 305/45R18 Nitto NT05Rs. With its massaged motor, smooth-shifting 5-speed, comfortable interior and vintage swagger, you'll never tire of finding this custom in your garage.
