Shelby GT500 Convertible Pro Touring 427 V8 5 Speed
If having modern fun in a vintage Ford sounds good to you, take a look at this 1968 Mustang convertible. Restored and dressed in full Shelby regalia, this slick GT500 homage continues the Shelby spirit by looking great and punishing pavement with the best of them. The sheet metal has been fully massaged and features bright yellow paint next a white convertible top. From the hood and scoops to the striping package, the whole car is finished in aggressive Shelby design cues. The car backs up its look with a Ford 427ci V8 with more than a few upgrades. The foundation is a traditional cast iron block dressed in blue and topped with FoMoCo aluminum heads, an Edelbrock F427 intake, and a single Holley four-barrel carburetor. Despite the upgrades, presentation retains a factory feel thanks to details like the reproduction Shelby serial number, dual horns, and a reproduction Autolite battery. Behind the 427, a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual makes quick work of shifts before sending power back to a Moser 9-inch rear with a limited slip and 3.50 gears. The suspension is mostly stock, but the chassis has been upgraded with tubular subframe connectors and sway bars both front and rear. Manual rack-and-pinion steering combines with Baer four-wheel disc brakes for a modern driving experience while a 17-inch wheel and tire package round out the undercarriage. Inside, a saddle leather interior features all the major Shelby pieces alongside Autometer gauges, modern A/C, and an Alpine stereo system. Big block power with 565 cubic inches of displacement and lots of friends, this car is wild. Opening on the sight of six American muscle car masterpieces, 1320 seemingly has their work cut out for them in the information department. That's because the collection features such icons as a bright red Chevrolet Bel Air, a yellow Camaro, and what looks like a lifted Chevrolet K10. In fact, the owner seems to have a mighty strong affection for GM and Chevrolet automobiles. On top of all that, there i read more
