Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 2009 Ford Mustang Bullitt Coupe!
33 years after the "King of Cool" Steve McQueen piloted his iconic 1968 Ford Mustang GT fastback as Detective Frank Bullitt in likely the most iconic chase scene ever recorded in cinema, Ford reimagined it with a special variant of the 2001 Mustang and licensed the "Bullitt" name from Warner Bros to offer the special version. Ford would offer the Bullitt variant again in 2008 and 2009 and yet again in 2019 and 2020 as the mystic of the car and the character lives on.
The 2008 and 2009 version is based on the S197 platform built from 2004 through 2014. All Bullitt models started out as GT Premium models and were altered with appearance and performance modifications suiting of the sinister looking 1968 GT that Frank Bullitt drove. Exterior features include uniquely finished 18" Torq-Thrust style wheels and removal of the decklid spoiler and all badges except for the faux gas cap, which is replaced with a Bullitt-specific unit. Inside, there are Bullitt door sills, gauges, and steering wheel cap, an engine-turned aluminum dash panel, aluminum shift knob and pedals, and GT500-inspired front seats and GT500-inspired steering wheel with black stitching.
Under the hood sits the familiar 4.6L V8 found in the GT, however, it features a Ford Performance cold air intake, improved engine calibration, and a revised exhaust system designed to mimic the sound of the Mustang used in the Bullitt movie. Output is 315hp at 6000 rpm and 325 lb·ft of torque at 4250 rpm and the engines redline has been raised to 6500 rpm. The Tremec TR-3650 5-speed manual transmission from the Mustang GT is used, but the Bullitt featured a heavier duty rear axle (also used in GT500KR) with 3.73:1 ratio. The suspension is also improved over the standard GT utilizing stiffer springs, struts, and a decorative front strut tower brace while also lowering the car's ride height by six millimeters. Only two colors were offered, the iconic
Highland Green as well as Black were the only colors offered with the Bullitt package commanding a $3,310 price tag on top of the GT Premium. The optioned proved to be quite popular with 6,582 produced; 5,772 for 2008 and 810 for 2009. 4,975 buyers chose the iconic Highland Green whereas 1,607 chose Black. For the 2009 model year 629 were finished in Highland Green and 181 in Black and every Bullitt received a serialized number on the strut tower brace.
This 2009 example is 1 of 629 that were finished in Highland Green for the model year and is serialized as number 6,349 of the 6,582 produced and presents nicely with just 48,150 miles. Per the original window sticker, it is optioned with $4,210 in options consisting of the $3,310 Bullitt package, $525 HID headlights, and $375 GT security package. Inclusive of the $795 destination charge the total MSRP was $33,730. It has received a light number of modifications including tinted windows, tinted headlight and taillight lends, a Kenwood LCD head unit that has Bluetooth and a reverse camera.
It comes complete with the original books, manuals, both keys with fobs, window sticker, manual for the Kenwood system, and some service records. Do not miss this opportunity to drive your own Bullitt!
