STK 3824 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS6
The Chevelle SS is one of the most popular muscle cars ever built. The 'SS' was an option package to the Chevelle in 1970, not a unique model in and of itself. Without an original build sheet, window sticker or engine data it is virtually impossible to determine exactly how any '70 Chevelle left the factory. That said, this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle looks to be a 'real' SS454/LS6. Based on the engine pad/casting stamps, the 454ci/450hp engine appears to be the correct numbers matching LS6 motor. The Chevelle also has all of the SS454 components including the F41 suspension, SS gauge package, SS emblems, cowl induction hood, SS wheels and trim tag paint codes. This handsome Chevelle experienced a careful restoration in 2010 - no detail was spared. The stunning body was re-sprayed Tuxedo Black w/contrasting white SS sport striping on a cowl-induction hood. The Tuxedo Black paint (Code 19), black vinyl top (Code B) and black interior (Code 756) are all original trim codes. White-letter Goodyear Polyglas bias-ply tires are mounted on 14” GM SS rally wheels. The restored interior is equipped with black vinyl Strato-Bucket seats, SS wheel, full console, tinted windows, SS gauge package w/6,500 redline tachometer and factory AM/FM/8-track tape sound system w/rear speaker.
Based on the Engine Suffix Code of CRR (1970 454ci/450hp LS6 w/TH400) and the partial VIN Stamp on the Engine Pad (10K186507), this appears to be the original engine in the Chevelle. The LS6 motor utilized forged internal components, ported heads, aluminum pistons and solid lifter cam. This LS6 engine has the correct heads and intake manifold and the Holley carburetor is correct for a 454cid LS6 engine w/automatic transmission, but it is not the original carb. The TH400 transmission is also correct for the 454/LS6 car, but based on its casting number, may be from a 1969/427-HO vehicle. The 12-bolt GM differential appears to be correct and the chassis is fitted with power steering and power disc/drum brakes. The SS F41 suspension package added larger front/rear sway bars and boxed in lower control arms. This is a beautiful, classic SS454/LS6 Chevelle that will continue to outperform the competition, in value and on the street. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
