2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28/SS

For consignment, a final year, (or so we thought), car celebrating the Camaro SS and with SLP engineering spices thrown in for extra power and looks, and a LOT of it!  While all 2002 SS Camaros were technically 35th anniversary cars, this is not of the limited-edition version.  A 2 owner car sporting a mere 17,400 actual miles, purchased by our consignor on 7/5/2016 from the original owner and coming with its original window sticker, SLP sticker, original wrappers, finance sheet, build sheet, and various inspection and maintenance records.  This particular SS is 1 of 243 built in Sunset Orange with a 6-speed manual, sporting a few minor modifications for the better, (a power antenna and 2 speed manual fan controller),  this car is ready for you to show or safely tuck away and let the value appreciate.

Exterior
This car screams SLP and Chevrolet with all its add ons and a mouth watering rare hue of factory applied Sunset Orange Metallic basecoat/clearcoat paint.  The grille opening is slightly different than a standard Z28 and an SS badge is neatly put in the very low center of said SLP optional grille.  Deeply inset fog lights flank the grille opening and all present with nary a flaw.  Chevrolet is known for their rakish styling on the front glass, and this car is no exception.  A long lean hood with an integral molded in SS scoop leads back to the windshield leaning way back in this design.  On top is a fully fixed glossy black roof and on the sides, straight steel and composite panels with well minded gaps create the front and rear quarters badged with black SS badges on the front quarters.  On the short rear deck, (the long nose, short deck muscle car look lives on), where there is a wide spoiler that is very low profile.  17-inch GM ZR-1 chrome plated wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in blackwall rubber from the 21st week of 2016.  Center exit SLP dual exhaust peeks out from under the body matching neoprene bumper and special rear valance.  All paint is at the deep end of the pool and looks nearly perfect throughout.

Interior
A swing of the sexy doors and we get loads of Ebony molded smooth vinyl, swirled Ebony cloth inserts, integrated door pulls with a matching charcoal gray actuator and plenty of power toggles to play with.  Inside Ebony cloth high back buckets showing almost no wear that comes with careful preservation and very little use have smooth bolsters and tuck and roll inserts and the driver's seat being power actuated.  A center console undulates by these buckets and houses the Hurst leather booted shifter for the transmission.  Shoehorned in back are two more molded in Ebony cloth buckets with not a lot of legroom but they are there.  The center of the dash rises to the occasion with a premium sound system including AM/FM/CD, climate controls, and an ASR, (traction control), button.  A beautifully and gracefully arched dash top in front of the driver has all the essential gauges and warnings should something go awry during your performance drive.  Charcoal gray carpeting floods the floors and is protected by color matching carpeted mats.

Drivetrain
The factory 346ci LS series V8 sits between the fenders and is looking as good as the day it was installed.  While we've all come to know and love the LS1 series engines and the power they are capable of.  Mated to the back is a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission which sends power to the rear axle which is a 10-bolt 3.42 posi-traction setup.  All stock and just the way the folks at the Quebec plant and SLP intended.

Undercarriage
Beautifully preserved with factory overspray still seen on floor pans and fuel tank.  The factory dual to single to dual exhaust, (this is the optional SLP center mounted Borla exhaust), is on and looking just fab.  Handling is courtesy front independent coil spring and Macpherson struts and rear is torque arm with coil springs.  Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter and off to the test track.  Here it performed well in all facets with endless acceleration, bias free braking and wonderful handling.  All functions were performing as they should on this SS SLP Camaro, and we kept our drive short so as to not rack up too many miles on this example.

A dual advantage to this particular car with its final year of the design heritage, what was once thought to be the end of the Camaro all together, and the extra performance of the SLP package we have a car that not only looks high performance but also fits the bill when you push the accelerator floorward.  Street Legal Performance!
