From 2005 through 2014 Ford built the fifth generation of Mustang with one facelift/update in the 2010 Model year cars. Internally the Mustang is known as the S197 and while development began as the “New Edge” design in 1999. The fifth generation of Mustang included the Mustang GT/California special, Shelby, Bullitt and Boss 302. A standard V6 and optional V8 were the engine options with both manual and automatic transmissions being offered.
