1 Owner From New 351ci Cleveland 4-Speed Manual 28K Original Miles
1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1
In October of 1947, test pilot Chuck Yeager accomplished something widely thought to be impossible due to an aircraft not being able to withstand the shock when it happens. He proved them wrong by breaking the sound barrier (Mach 1) on October 14, 1947. At the altitude he was, he had to be going over 662 MPH.
Fast forward to 1970 and we give you, from a consignment, this 1-owner, original documented mileage, frame up restored body and Cleveland engine Mach 1. Always garaged, always maintained, always run for fun only, it is very hard to find fault with this beautiful example. Everything is straight, everything is right, everything looks like it just left the showroom.
Exterior
Build plate T code says Candy Apple Red all in its 2006 restoration gleaming respray glory. Hard to find fault with this paint coverage everywhere you look. A matte black hood stripe with a shaker hood scoop can be noted on the pony long hood. Only a minor frown on this hood in that is has a very slight bend on the driver's side making the gap a bit higher on this side. Black louvered fastback glass takes the viewer to a matte black spoiler, as well as indented taillights, with a black stripe running horizontally above. Brite work, badging and chrome is all correct and in near showroom condition. Magnum 500 Chrome wheels are on all four corners. The 1970 front grille is the most menacing of all the Mustangs and has been emulated even in newer versions of this moniker. This '70 is no exception.
Interior
Also, the interior was a recipient of a 2006 restoration, with correct high back black vinyl buckets, dash, round gauges, faux veneers, padded vinyl dash and carpets all three and all correct, and seemingly barely used. Headliner is in line with the rest of the interior, very nice! A Hurst shifter is sitting proudly within the center console, and research shows for this 1970 this was put in during the 2006 restoration.
Drivetrain
A Cleveland 351ci 4V (Code M on Vin plate… The 351ci-4V was marketed as a high-performance engine, featuring large valves and ports and a closed "quench" combustion chamber) producing 300hp in pristine condition over and under, has a consigner stated $10,000 spent on the 2006 restoration. It is not known on exactly what was put into it, as the list is not specific as to exact parts, however there is documentation that shows money was spent! A 4-speed manual transmission is bolted on back of the impressive (clean and powerful) mill. Power front disc brakes are installed.
A restored to perfection very low mileage example of an iconic muscle car, garage kept, and never beaten or raced. Extra options, and a stout Cleveland engine make this a very desirable Mustang. Come on over to Classic Auto Mall to view it, and all you'll have to do is “pony” up the dough to drive it away!
