1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS Coupe
The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro appeared in Chevrolet dealerships in September 1966 for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop (no "B" or center pillar) or convertible, with the choice of either a straight-six or V8 engine. The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year.
The RS was an appearance package that included hidden headlights, revised taillights with back-up lights under the rear bumper, RS badging, and exterior bright trim. This example is a two-owner car, with the current second owner (consigner) in possession of the car for the last 10 years. A very clean unrestored example of a debut model pony car with a special package.
Exterior
Repainted red is the sole new addition to this otherwise original badging, brightwork, bumpers, top, and any other part of this car. A creme parchment (rare option) top is in good condition. RS option hidden headlights are functioning, as well as all exterior lighting. Stock Chevrolet Motor Company wheel trim and hubcaps are framed by redline tires. The original chrome dealer name tag appears next to the RS gas cap.
Interior
Black stitched vinyl bucket seats with white highlighting, in excellent condition in front, and a matching motif bench seat in the rear make up the seating arrangement. A center console shows a clock option, as well as an automatic shift handle that is designed right out of the 60's. (Looks like George Jetson would have used a similar one to control his flying car!). Aftermarket air conditioning is working and is controlled by horizontal levers in the middle of the dash. Deep round angled analog gauges create the gauge cluster in front of the steering wheel. A lever to adjust the steering wheel height is seen on the column (another rare option). A small knurled knob is present underneath the right side of the dash, next to the steering column, which the consigner states controls the rear window defogger (another rare option).
Drivetrain
The 327ci V8 drinks from a 2-barrel carburetor and drives a 2-speed automatic transmission. Underside is original, and no rust is present. 4-wheel drum brakes and a dual exhaust system are seen all in good condition.
Excepting paint, this car is original. A generation 1 first year pony car, with an RS option package, as well as some rare dealer option add ons. All surfaces interior and exterior are pristine, and in good condition. A check back in time reveals that all advertising money went into the SS. Hence a beautiful option (RS) was somewhat ignored, creating a lesser seen Camaro, seen right here.
