Mustang GT Hatchback

Description

1990 Ford Mustang GT Hatchback

For consignment, a rip roaring hot rod, more at home on the track, but still capable on the street and definitely looking the part thanks the racy wheels, shaved door locks, heat extractor hood and sticky rear tires.  But before you ask, yes the car is street legal, however it is set up to not only imitate the look of a full blown race car, but it actually performs like one too.  With a built engine with speed and power upgrades a plenty, this car is now a pocket rocket Foxbody Stang with a sting.  A built 347ci stroker Ford engine now graces the bay, along with updated front seats and Billet Specialties wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials on the rear.  Street lethal if you will.

Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.

Exterior
This specialized hatchback is painted in a subdued and subtle Green Tea Metallic and has straight steel panels which mind their gaps nicely.  A body matching integrated Cobra style front bumper, side skirts which emulate brake cooling ducts, lightly tinted windows with black surrounds, and some rectangular headlights, are framed by an all business Cervinis heat extractor hood.  Up top, the factory sunroof has also been tinted to match the other glass and gives you a touch of sun for your drive.  Gone are the cheese grater style taillights and now cleaner wraparound tail lights courtesy of a 1993 SVT Cobra are just below the rear trunk deck and 1993 SVT Cobra rear spoiler, and above another body matching Cobra style rear bumper.  Billet Specialties wheels are on all 4 corners, and up front wrapped by skinny 26x4.0x15 tires, and one the rear 28x10.5x15 rear drag rubber.  Save for the wheels and tires, and the heat extractor hood, this is a naturally occurring unassuming Fox Bodied Mustang GT with some Cobra dress up. BUT!

Interior
A swing of either well balanced door leads us into a full on black interior and is providing you straight line and even curved road enjoyment.  Newly recovered aftermarket black cloth bucket seats grab you and hold you with a firm snuggle and in the back a small bench is providing room for 2 and is finished in the factory black tweed broadcloth.  New black carpet covers the flooring and floats not only the seats but the black plastic console with a small storage area/armrest, cup holders and an aftermarket shifter with a red button on the stalk for the line lock. The steering wheel has been changed to an all black 3 spoke rally wheel, and a factory instrument cluster floats just ahead.  An AutoMeter tachometer and shift light have been added to monitor engine rpms and on the driver's A-pillar we see a trio of AutoMeter supporting gauges.  Turning our attention to dash central we note the factory heater dials, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo and a pair of toggle switches for the fuel pump and electric cooling fan.  Hovering just above is a black felted headliner, tight and alright as it frames the factory installed pop-up sunroof.  A shout of to the trunk with its clean black carpeting and stainless steel battery box.

Drivetrain
The 347ci stroker V8 engine has all the fixings and is adorned with aluminum cylinder heads and an Edelbrock Victor intake manifold.  Feeding the proper and copious amount of air and fuel is a 4-barrel carburetor and on the back is a Tremec T5 5-speed manual transmission.  Making the connection from the transmission to the rear axle is an aluminum driveshaft which sends power to the LPW aluminum differential cover equipped Ford 8.8" and in turn the rear tires.  Sheesh!  I'm sweating with anticipation on the test track, which will be a straight-line version today!  Buckle up!

Undercarriage
A 4 link with fully adjustable coil over rear suspension conversion helps keep all that power hooked to the pavement.  Up front is an independent coil over suspension with factory lower control arms and the factory K member.  We note welded in subframe connectors have been installed to keep the chassis extra rigid and disc brakes are on all 4 corners with drilled and slotted rotors in the front to bring this horse to a whoah.  Long tube headers are on for the exhale with Flowmaster mufflers, sans catalytic converters, that end just in front of the rear axle of the car.  All solid with only some minor paint chip off but no rust is noted, and we see a sumped fuel tank and braided fuel lines.

Drive-Ability
It fired up with a thunderous roar, and our test driver who doubles as my sidekick decoder took her for a spin, and spin it did, especially for the rear tires.  He said launching was awesome, and of course did not get close to any top speed, but it is reported it goes like hell.  All lighting is still functional as are the power windows and locks, but the air conditioning has been removed so clearly it won't be blowing cold.

Take a Fox body and spend a small fortune on it to make it go straight, and you now have a super 'Stang, a Muscle Mustang, and a powerful pony.  But this isn't a one trick pony, lord no....this one can handle the curves as well.  An excellent build with super quality parts, and all for 1 purpose to smoke the competition.  Mission accomplished...this description will self-destruct in 11 seconds!
