GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1996 Chevrolet Camaro SS for your consideration After a 24-year absence the Camaro SS returned as a limited production car built under contract by SLP (Street Legal Performance) for General Motors. The modifications from SLP gave the Camaro SS more horsepower and gave the car appearance, handling and braking upgrades in addition to the added power. The 5.7L V8 was rated at 305 hp, which was 20 more horsepower compared to the to 285 hp of the stock Z28. The V8 engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The exterior features the distinctive functional “ram air” hood scoop and ss badging which replaced the Z28 badging. The 5-spoke wheels complement the already upgraded exterior. The striking black paint on this car is in great condition as the car has only driven just over 15,000 miles.

The interior of the car is a super clean grey cloth interior that shows minimal wear. There is also a special plate on the center console that depicts what number car this is out of the 2,263. This specific example is number 1990. There are many other modern features in this car that make it a pleasant place to be. There are power windows, power brakes, cruise control, an aftermarket radio, and air conditioning.

The new 1996 Camaro SS was featured in 35 automotive publications throughout 1996 and made an appearance on the cover of 17 top magazines. The SS was an optional package on the Z28 thus meaning the 6-speed transmission was standard and there was an optional automatic but the 5-speed manual was not an option on the SS as it was on the standard Camaro.
