Significant changes to the 1965 Pontiac GTO included the famous stacked headlights, simulated hood scoops (could be made functional with a dealer or owner installed Air Scoop Package), slightly longer body, better breathing engine that produced more horsepower, improved brakes, and stiffer suspension! This paved the way for several more successful years dominating the American muscle car era, lending to Pontiac development designated the GTO its own model series by 1966.

It's heavily optioned with features that start with a 389ci-4bbl V8engine mated with an automatic transmission! Additional accessories include factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power folding convertible top, center console with manifold vacuum gauge, Rally gauges with dash tachometer, original 14" Rally I wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial Redline tires measuring 215/70R14, deluxe seatbelts with retractors, dual outside mirrors, all Soft-Ray tinted glass, interior courtesy lights, passenger vanity mirror, rear back-up lights, windshield washer with dual speed wipers, deluxe faux wood steering wheel, foot pedal trim, and push-button Delco AM/FM radio!

This body and chassis on this wonderfully restored example are exceptional! It retains its correct March 1965 YS-code engine bearing the block casting 9778789 along with "77" heads, correct intake fitted with proper Carter 4-barrel carburetor! It is nicely dressed with correct chrome air cleaner & valve covers, GM tower clamps, inspection markings, Delco-Remy charging components, Delco battery cover, and more! Onlookers with be hard-pressed to discover anything amiss under this hood. The power flows through a newer stainless steel 2.5" exhaust system with chrome quad exhausts plitters to a rear end axle set up with factory 3.08 gearing! It even retains T3 headlamps adding to the authenticity of period correct components.

It represents itself beautifully in all respects as an honest, original GTO and drives down the road exactly the same! Considering the true age of the restoration, the paint remains very presentable with signs that it has been carefully driven and enjoyed over the years. The rear trunk compartment is nicely detailed with rubber floor mat, spare tire with correct cover, along with jack and tire changing tools. It will come with original PHS documentation documenting this car is was always impressively optioned with the its current, desirable equipment, while some original components like the remote control driver mirror are now absent, and factory deluxe wheel covers being swapped for the sportier Rally I wheels it wears today.
