All original sheetmetal, and loaded with rare factory options that include D-code289-4bbl engine, air conditioning, power steering, powerconvertible top, tinted glass, wire spoke wheels, and more! Fullyserviced, and a long time award winner at prominent Ford shows!Great investment! Still one of the most desired collector carsthroughout the world, the Ford Mustang! More than one million carswere produced during the first two years alone to satisfy hungrybuyers in the mid-1960's! Today some the most desired are the fullyoptioned convertibles, particularly the early 1964.5 examples builtfrom March 1964 through August 1964. These unique examples havespecial features found specifically on the first units built. Aspecial engine coding system, vented radiator support to helpbattery cooling, generator charging system, large horns, just toname a few. Very few of these continue to remain in rust freecondition today, so finding a good one can be a real challenge! Weare very excited to offer this incredibly well preserved 1964.5Ford Mustang Convertible finished in factory code correct CaspianBlue over Blue Vinyl Interior! Powered by its original D-code289ci-4bbl V8 210 horsepower engine, C4 automatic transmission, and3.00:1 conventional rear end ratio! A perfect setup for a highwaycruiser in any climate! The option list for this early Mustang isquite strong with power steering, air conditioning, powerconvertible top, original working AM radio, 14" steel wheels withchrome wire spoke wheel covers, reverse lights, rocker panelmoldings, padded sun visors, tinted window glass, seatbelts, rubberfloor mats, single outside mirror with day/night interior mirror, and seat belts! This wonderfully rust free example bears alloriginal sheet metal from new, and just one older repaint finishedin the 1980's. It sold new from a Charlotte, NC Ford dealer to adoctor who ordered it special for his wife as a gift. When theycame to sell it, it didn't go far when their Rock Hill, NC neighborwho always admired the car purchased it for his own. We believe hewas the one who decided to have the paint refinished during hisownership. He would maintain possession until Steve Woolard wouldpurchase it in June 2000 with 93,000 miles on the odometer. Itwould only trade hands these three times since new! Since 2000, Mr.Woolard would be an active member of the Southern Performance FordClub (SPFC) and showcased his pride and joy avidly! It earned aFirst Place at the Grand National Mustang Show at Lowe's MotorSpeedway for 64.5-66 Open-Driven Class in 2002. It was also amultiple award winner, particularly in the SPFC Auto Fair Spring &Fall circuit taking either Class Winner or Best of Class honorstwelve times, along with a Silver & 2 Gold Awards at Mustang & AllFord Shows! Trophies will be provided to the next owner as theystayed with this car. Inside, you will find a remarkably well keptoriginal presentation with factory floor carpeting & underlayment, factory seat upholstery & foam cushions; door panels, sail & kickpanels; factory instrument panel & gauges; original seatbelts; andmore! Mechanically, Mr. Woolard rebuilt the front & rear suspensioncomponents in 2012 along with a new, correct replacement radiatorwith hoses & clamps. Outside you will find a brand new convertibletop and boot cover also installed in 2012. A new exhaust system wasinstalled in 2012. The factory transmission was completely rebuiltin April 2015. New power top cylinders and lines were installed inMay 2015, as well as new power steering lines later that same yearwith fresh Hankook radial whitewall tires. Upon arrival here to theSt. Louis Car Museum, we elected to replace the door sill platesand door handles for new. Under the hood, it was due for a somefreshening, so we took the extra effort to detail the enginecompartment with new radiator shroud, radiator cap, and upgraded5-blade fan; new valve cover gaskets, all new drive belts, freshbrake fluid with new rear brake hose, cleaned & adjusted thebrakes, along with fresh engine oil & filter. Once finished, wecompletely serviced the air conditioning system to ensure it blowscold. It is an exceptionally nice and structurally solid examplethat couldn't be more ready to enjoy! It maintains all originalmajor factory components right down to the carburetor, heads, intake, etc.as well as untouched factory door tag! Please callwith any additional questions or to schedule a chance to see it inperson! But don't wait! Cars like this never last long! Thanks forlooking!
