The Boss 351 Mustang was the new high-performance Ford Mustang variant that was offered by Ford beginning in 1971. In 1970 Ford cancelled their previous performance models the Boss 302 and Boss 429 as a result of increasing insurance premiums, and tighter emissions standards. Ford also withdrew from factory sponsored racing and therefore no longer needed a car that held the big block 429 engine. All of these factors led to the introduction of the Boss 351 in 1971. The car features just one repaint over 31 years ago and still stands up tall in presentation. The interior remains highly original if not all original and shows all the signs of consistent care and proper storage with even patina. Being just one of one with this specific option combination this Boss 351 features the original bright blue metallic paint, blue Mach 1 bucket seats, the optional magnum 500 chrome wheels, sport deck rear seats, and the deluxe seat belts. This car features its R-Code 351cid engine mated to a 4-speed transmission with the optional wide ration gears that is shifted by a Hurst T shifter. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 3.91:1 Traction Lock differential. This car also came with many factory options such as power steering, rim bow-deluxe steering wheel, tinted glass and an AM/8 track radio.

In 1971 Super Stock and Drag Illustrated said about the Boss 351 that, "Its looks and absolutely unique idle were attention-getters like those of few other cars in recent memory."
