Frame Off Built Chevelle SS 454/425 HP V8 M21 4 Speed Hotchkiss PS A/C Discs
One of the best things about the classic car hobby is there is a car for everyone. Whether you want to invest in a blue-chip collectible or actually enjoy your machine on the open road without worry, you can usually find something to suit your needs. It's cars like this 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport that make the hobby fun and let us truly enjoy what these cars have to offer. With big block power, a tough 4-speed gearbox, and iconic good looks, this Chevelle epitomizes what makes enjoying American muscle so much fun. This Chevelle is fresh out of a body-off, rotisserie restoration that was completed in January 2015. That smooth and sorted body now wears a fascinating Emerald Green Metallic coat, finished by a glossy clear. It's a finish that looks like it was adapted from a much more modern and luxurious car. It's one of those metallic hues you have to see to appreciate. With the bumpers, grille and window moldings recently being re-chromed, the chrome and stainless are just as impressive and show crisp reflections. With a craving for power over authenticity, the builders scrapped the original 307 and a 454 block was sourced for the build. That big block was then built to 427/425HP specs. Topped by aluminum heads, the motor's shorter stroke provides a rev-happy power mill that will still hold its own against its larger displacement brother. When the engine fires to life, it transfers torque to a tried-and-true Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission. That M21 delivers power to a 12 bolt rear end which houses race axles and a new Eaton Positraction with 3.07 gears. Inside, things mostly appear traditional while a keen eye will notice bits like the 3-spoke steering wheel, dash, and sport bucket seats being wrapped in black leather. An instrument cluster that sports a vertical tachometer has been re-worked to display accurate revs; a pricey project in itself. Vintage Air climate control has been added to maintain a comfortable driving environment, and a Custom Autosound AM/FM stereo with iPod and USB connectivity provides the tunes. If you're ready to row through the gears in your own big block muscle car, give this Chevy a long look. You won't be disappointed!
