Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS 396 Coupe

Chevrolet introduced the Nova for the 1962 model year and it ran through 1979 and then again from 1985 through 1988 but arguably the 1970 iteration is the most iconic of them all. Introduced in 1968, the third generation of the Nova was fully redesigned with an extensive restyle on a longer 111-inch wheelbase that gave Chevy's compacts a chassis that was just one inch shorter than that of the midsize Chevelle coupe. The Super Sport option was also changed from a trim option to a performance option with higher performance engine options, heavy duty suspensions, and front power disc brakes.

For 1970 Chevrolet produced 252,244 Nova's in which just 19,558, about 7% of production, were equipped with the SS performance package. Decoding the data reveals this Nova was produced at Willow Run, Michigan assembly during the 2nd week of May 1970. It is finished in its original color scheme of code 14 Cortez Silver over a code 732 Black Custom interior with a bench seat. Under the hood is a non-original 396 engine showing the suffix code of JD indicating the block is a 1969 375hp rated 396ci V8 from a Chevelle and it is hooked to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter.

Showing 31,641 miles on the odometer, this Nova spent the past 16yrs with the same owner and it presents very well as the paint, although older, shines nicely with very few blemishes and the interior is just as nice. It runs and drives very strong as the engine has a nice choppy cam and makes wonderful big block noises resonating through the headers and shortened exhaust. The raked suspension completes the intimidating muscle look that every muscle car should have.
