Driving The AMX Is Anything But Dull. The AMX Was Not Only Sporty And Attractive, But It Introduced Many Industry Firsts.
The American Society Of Automotive Engineers Named The AMX As The "Best Engineered Car Of The Year" In 1969 And 1970
The AMC AMX Debuted On Feb. 24, 1968, As A Mid 1968 Model. It Was The First Steel-Bodied, Two Seat American Production Model Since The 1957 Ford Thunderbird. By Slicing A Foot Out Of Its Javelin Body, American Motors Created The AMX (American Motors Experimental). Eliminating The Rear Seat, AMC Made It A True Two Seat Sports Car. Its Short 97 Inch Wheelbase Cut The AMX Curb Weight To About 3,100 Pounds.
There Were A Few Changes To The AMX For 1969. A New 140 mph Speedometer Was Included In A New Dashboard.
