1973 AMC Javelin AMX
This 1973 American Motors Corporations (AMC) Javelin is a great example of a “Pony Car” from the early 1970's. The 1973 two-door fastback design has new aggressive front fenders that blend well with the smoothly sculpted hood and roof lines while still showing many design similarities with the previous generation Javelins and AMX's.
The Olympic Blue Metallic paint shows well with only light ware and small imperfections. The body shows no dents or signs of rust. The classic Cragar wheels go very well with chrome bumpers and trim lines. All lights and signals are working properly and the badges are appropriate (the missing front grill badge in photos has been replaced.).
The original AMC-built 1973 360ci V8 engine underwent a performance buildup bringing the now 401ci engine to 450 hp according to the paperwork provide with the car. The Edelbrock “Performer” 4-barrel intake manifold connects to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor providing plenty of fuel and air to get the Javelin off the line. The Headman headers and Flowmaster 2 ½” dual exhaust adds a great sound to the occasion! The power is transferred through a 4-speed manual Borg-Warner T-10 transmission to the Model 20 rear axle that came stock with AMC's Twin-Grip limited-slip differential.
The coil-based independent front suspension and rigid rear axle with parallel semi-elliptic leaf springs allow for a smooth drive while the power front disc brakes allow for a quick stop.
The Black Charcoal interior is in very good condition with the vinyl front bucket and rear bench seats showing little wear. The Hurst shifter allows for a clean shift while using the well-tuned clutch. All gauges have been updated with new Auto Meter digital.
This AMC Javelin is an affordable classic “Pony” car that is a blast to drive.
