"Silver Fox"

The 1986 Mustang GT sits at a unique crossroads in Fox Body history. It was the first year Ford fitted the 5.0 liter V8 with multiport fuel injection, and it was also the last year of the four headlight front end before Ford redesigned the nose entirely for 1987. That combination of first and last makes the 1986 GT one of the most collectible years in the Fox Body lineup, and this one has been built into something considerably more serious than it left the factory. Finished in Silver Metallic with a dark grey hood stripe and dark grey accents, it looks exactly the part.

Under the hood the 5.0 liter V8 has been professionally supercharged with a Vortech V-1 centrifugal supercharger, installed by Alternative Auto Performance in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Supporting the power upgrade are 36 pound injectors, a 65mm throttle body, a March pulley system, an aluminum radiator kit, headers, dual exhaust, a new Holley fuel pump and fuel lines, and new fuel rails. This is a complete, properly supported power build done by a known shop, not a backyard project. The Pro 5.0 long handle shifter kit keeps the driver connected to every gear change, and the Baer four wheel brake system gives it the stopping power to match what the engine can do.

Inside, the grey cloth interior is clean with red piping on the seats that pops nicely against the silver exterior. A black leather steering wheel, dark grey accents, and boost and fuel gauges mounted on the A pillar give the cabin a purposeful, driver-focused feel. Manual windows are correct for a car built and driven like this one.

The Fox Body platform has one of the most active and well-supported aftermarket communities of any car in history. Parts are abundant, knowledge is everywhere, and builders have been extracting serious performance from this chassis for over 40 years.
