Television-Featured Build by Auto Metal Direct 590hp 6.0L LS V8 5-Speed A/C ///
Built by Auto Metal Direct and featured on Season 9 of Chop Cut Rebuild, this 1971 Chevrolet Nova was created to showcase AMD's complete catalog of new steel and demonstrate just how precisely their components come together. The car features a new AMD subframe along with fresh steel from the floorpan to the quarters, fenders, hood, and decklid, plus new rockers, inner fenders, radiator support, cowl, and fuel tank. Finished in PPG Blue Heaven with subtle black striping, chrome bumpers, and polished trim, it sits right on 18-inch Schott MOD5 ExL wheels wrapped in 255mm front and 295mm rear Yokohama Advan Sport tires. Power comes from a 6.0-liter iron-block LS built by Grimes Automotive with LS3-style aluminum heads and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor that gives the engine an old-school look and feel. Long-tube Hedman headers feed a full stainless Pypes exhaust, while a Legend 5-speed manual transmission and 10-bolt rear with 3.73 gears put the power to the pavement. The chassis is reinforced with a complete Hotchkis Sport Suspension including tubular control arms, a front sway bar, and upgraded power steering, all working with Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes and red calipers. Inside, the bright red Legendary Auto Interiors upholstery pairs with Dakota Digital VHX gauges, a Flaming River steering column, and a RetroSound stereo with auxiliary input. Vintage Air climate control adds comfort without taking away from the car's clean, period-correct presentation. It remains a thoughtfully built, well-sorted Nova that captures the spirit of Auto Metal Direct's craftsmanship and the timeless appeal of classic American muscle.
