Production #564057 – Delivered June 12, 1970, to Borough Motors, Charlotte, NC. This rare Eliminator is one of just 2,268 built for the 1970 model year, and it shows both heritage and performance in abundance. Finished in its original Competition Yellow, this Eliminator was repainted in 1998. The black Eliminator striping and “Eliminator” bold lettering remain crisp and correct. Distinctive design cues abound: concealed retractable headlights, a pronounced hood scoop, a rear wing, and competition suspension work give this Cougar an aggressive stance and presence. 14‑inch gray wheels with polished trim rings and Cougar center caps carry 215/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Power‑assisted four‑wheel disc brakes complete the stopping package.

There are minor paint blemishes, as shown in the gallery, consistent with age and post‑refurbishment use. Beneath the hood lies a high‑performance replacement 390 ci V8, overbored by .030″, built in 1999 by Rhyne Competition Engines (Gary, Indiana). It's equipped with forged pistons, ARP bolts, Clevite bearings, a Crane camshaft and lifters, Edelbrock aluminum heads, a high‑volume Melling oil pump, Hooker headers, and topped off with a Ford 427 dual‑quad low‑riser intake feeding dual four‑barrel Holley carburetors. A Griffin aluminum radiator aids cooling. On the road, power is delivered through a replacement Toploader 4‑speed manual transmission to a limited‑slip Ford 9‑inch rear axle (recently replaced in March 2023) with 3.70:1 Yukon gears and 31‑spline shafts. Clutch replaced in September 2023; recent service also included carburetor rebuilds, new valve cover gaskets, a rear main seal, and fresh plugs and wires. Inside, the cabin is completely refurnished, trimmed in black vinyl with a matching dashboard, door panels, carpeting, and a rear bench. Features include high‑back bucket front seats, a woodgrain steering wheel, Hurst shifter, heater, all‑weather floor mats, and factory woodgrain trim. Gauges are period-correct: tachometer, 120-mph speedometer, oil pressure, coolant temp, fuel level, and ammeter. The odometer shows about 6,000 miles, though the total mileage is unknown; approximately 500 of those miles have been driven under current ownership. Refurbished in the late 1990s, this Cougar has been under attentive ownership. It comes with a Deluxe Marti Report, the original factory invoice, refurbishment records, supporting literature, spare parts, and a clean title.
