2004 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
For consignment, a 2004 Ford Mustang GT with a title verified 45,234 actual miles. While it is considered average mileage, this pampered pony barely shows it and looks great on the inside and out.
Exterior
Bathed in Redfire Metallic with a tan canvas top and badged in clean chromed 40th anniversary galloping steed badging on the front quarters, this car sports aero headlights, a hood scoop, the correct rear spoiler package along black mirrors. Side body panels are a nod to classic 'stang coves and terminated at a faux duct, just like the old cars. Updated tail lights also display some heritage elements while dual exhaust protrudes below the MUSTANG embossed bumper. 17-inch Bullitt wheels in argent grey give the car some sporty shoes as does the faux intact duct on the hood. The black canvas top is in very good condition. Imperfections are limited to just a few scratches in the paint.
Interior
Inside we are met with a nicely kept Dark Charcoal palette beginning with the molded door panels which provide entryway to the leather bucket seats, presenting with some wear on the driver's ingress point and a touch of patina on the passenger side. The dash, also in charcoal, has a very clean instrument panel, with analog gauges and digital odometer readout behind a steering wheel that is in great condition. A leather booted shifter sits within the console dressed by an aluminum trim ring, just below the heater controls and the Mach AM/FM/CD stereo in the center stack. Low pile charcoal carpet is protected by carpeted mats that took the brunt of usage and the trunk is finished in gray, cloth panels.
Drivetrain
Powering this pony is Ford's venerable 4.6 liter SOHC V8 rated at a respectable 265 horsepower, fueled by electronic injection and mated to the Tremec 3650 5-speed manual. This sends that power to the Ford 8.8” rear axle with 3.27 gears and TracLoc.
Undercarriage
Well if miles are gonna show, it's likely to end up on the bottom side. But even here, conditions belie the mileage. That's not to say there isn't patina, there's plenty of surface rust around. But we also find dry conditions and zero invasive rust. Power disc brakes are employed front and rear and the dual exhaust travels through OEM mufflers on its way to the sporty exit. Suspension consists of coil springs front and rear, where it is part of the four link system.
Drive-Ability
This well loved Mustang provides a clean environment from which to pilot it and the 4.6 starts up without hesitation. Power is more than available and it retains its overall fun factor. Obviously well cared for, this Mustang delivers a fine ride in which all functional items operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Ford celebrated the Mustang's 40th anniversary by badging all GT's with the special badge. More than 13,000 convertibles were produced in the fourth gen's final year and this one is a fine representation that shows absolutely what constant care and maintenance can produce. Top down fun and more than 250 horses at the ready make this one equine worth lassoing.
