1971 Chevrolet

Camaro SS

Description

This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS has been tastefully restored and upgraded—ready to show and go. It underwent a comprehensive, top-to-bottom restoration, featuring a laser-straight body and door jambs finished just as nicely as the exterior. The engine bay is highly detailed, and the underside is equally impressive, reflecting the level of care taken during the build.

Finished in sleek black base/clearcoat paint with subtle ghost stripes (completed in 2020), the car was originally Nevada Silver with a black vinyl interior. It retains its factory (Z27) Super Sport package, which includes the cowl induction hood, front spoiler, and rear spoiler—delivering that aggressive, period-correct look.

Power comes from a date-correct, professionally rebuilt 402 cubic inch Chevrolet big block V8 (Casting #3969854), producing 452 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque. The engine was fully machined—cleaned, magnafluxed, decked—and features Open Chamber heads (Casting #3993820), a Comp Cams hydraulic roller camshaft, new pushrods and springs, a Concept One serpentine belt system, Power Steering, Vintage Air Conditioning, and a QuickFuel 750 CFM carburetor. Power is delivered through a rebuilt TH-400 3-speed automatic transmission and an 8.5-inch 10-bolt GM rear end with 3.73 gears and an Eaton positraction unit—both overhauled in 2015.

The car rides on 15-inch Z28 wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires (215/70R15 front, 275/60R15 rear), and features Wilwood front disc brakes and a complete Hotchkis suspension setup: Subframe Connectors, Tubular Lower A-Arms, Sport Coils, front and rear sway bars, upgraded shocks, and a G-Force crossmember.

Inside, the refreshed cabin includes a custom instrument cluster with AutoMeter gauges, a Shifterworks Horseshoe shifter, rebuilt period-correct AM/FM/8-Track stereo, Vintage Air Conditioning, Tilt steering Column and Black bucket seats with a Center Console.

This is a sharp SS Camaro with the performance and road presence to match.
