56K Original Miles/Classic Camaro/V6 Automatic/T-Tops
2001 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
The fourth generation Camaro is a pony car that was produced for the 1993 through 2002 model years. It was introduced on an updated F-body platform, but retained the same characteristic since the first-generation's introduction back in 1967; 2-doors, 2 plus 2 seating, coupe, (with optional T-Top roof), or convertible body styles, rear wheel drive, and a choice of 6 cylinder or V8 engines. 2001 proved to be the lowest production year for the Camaro with 29,009 units built. This was partially due to production ending earlier than usual to begin work on the 35th Anniversary models commemorating 35 years of the Camaro.
A 2001 version of the Camaro graces our halls of Classic Auto Mall. This one announces it has a scant 54,774 miles, a 3.8 Liter V6 engine, in beautiful maroon. Just these facts should be enough to bait you to come in and buy it right off the floor, if you need more…read on!
Exterior
Deep maroon covers this car and has the optional T Top roof cut in for some extra fun. From its smooth hooded front, wildly raked back windscreen, to its integrated spoiler in the rear, the great curvaceous bodacious lines of this car appear as it is constantly moving forward, only it is actually standing still! Aftermarket head and taillights have been added for the bling factor. The polished 5 saw blade spoke 16” wheels give it away though because they would be spinning if this was really moving…I think?!
Interior
Removing the tinted glass roof panels you will have the reveal of two tone light bolster and dark tan insert in tuck and roll broadcloth high back buckets, and tan carpet you can wriggle your bare toes in. The cloth buckets have just the right height to grab you and keep you comfortable and secure as you fly down the backroads. 2 plus 2 two-toned broadcloth to match the buckets in the rear also, although a bit cramped for anyone over 5'0", but hey, it's a Camaro. In the very center of this tumultuous sea of interior we note a console automatic shifter and obligatory cup holder. Plenty of convenience options abound like power mirrors, power locks, power steering, power brakes, an aftermarket JVC AM/FM/CD player, and A/C to keep you occupied as you cruise away.
Drivetrain
Seated within the engine bay, and under the low slung hood is an original 3.8 liter V6 that pumps out 200 horses. This is attached to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. It sports EFI and is original to the car. On the rear is a 10-bolt axle with 2.73 gears.
Undercarriage
Beautiful condition save for some surface rust that has gathered on the straight steel parts of the suspension, but quite unremarkable. No marks say volumes as to how and when this car was driven or not driven. Independent front suspension with coil springs is noted and on back a torque arm and coil springs. Power disc brakes are noted on all 4 corners underneath as well.
Drive-Ability
This car started right up and drove like a V6 champ. Smooth power, good handling and all the interior convenience functions were working just great. Bias free panic stopping and driving with the T-Tops out was quite enjoyable.
How about a throwback to the original Camaro with plenty of power, classic good looks, low mileage, and plenty of convenience. Low pampered miles and ready for you to come swoop it up at the Classic Auto Mall.
