By 1970, the Chevelle had already captured Chevy enthusiasts hearts and this year's design and performance changes enhanced their love for the model. The '70 model year saw an edgier body introduced with a more squared-up stance in contrast with the curves of the '69 year-model. Enhancing the SS option, Chevelle owners saw increased offerings that came with the SS badge. Buyers could choose from a 396 or 454 cubic inch V8, offering 350 and 360 horsepower, respectively. The SS received a "power dome" hood, black accented grill and rear bumper insert. The sport wheels on the SS where equipped with wide-oval tires. There was no doubt with the introduction of '70 Chevelle SS that this car would become a legend.
This 1970 Chevelle, in its facotry color combination of Forest Green Poly with Green Vinyl Top and Dark Green Interior, is the result of a comprehensive restoration where no detail was overlooked. Around the exterior, the paint, including white rally stripes, chrome and all brightwork is in fantastic condition. On the inteiror, the Dark Green interior with bench seat is an ideal match to the exteiror. Throughout the interior, the attention to detail taken in the restoration becomes evident. Every gauge and feature is in factory functioning order. Fire up the matching-numbers 396ci 350hp motor, slide the original automatic transmission into drive and you quickly discover that this '70 Chevelle, with less than 58,000 original miles on the odometer is one of the best driving Chevelles you will ever ride in. Top to bottom this Chevelle is a car to own, show and enjoy.
