2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R

The 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R debuted as the fastest factory Mustang ever produced. Its SVT-developed, naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V-8 produced 385 horsepower, good for 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, the quarter mile in 13.2 and a 170-mph top speed.

For consignment with only 300 built, (#245), and the fastest production Mustang of its time, AND only 821 original documented miles on the clock, this is a collector car. However, given its performance and lure to get in, you may want to make use of this investment! Given the price of inflation and fuel going to go by the wayside, it may be worth using it. The car has been in temperature and humidity-controlled storage for the last 15 years.

Exterior
All bathed in Performance Red Clearcoat with just a few marks on the front from the mileage that was out on, this car is otherwise low mileage perfection. A big front splitter goes mean and low to the ground and frames the otherwise Mustang front grille with galloping horse in its center. Rocker flared fairings hover below the throwback hockey stick cover above in the doors and rear quarter, and on back a high spoiler keeps things grounded. In lieu of chromed trimmings all is either body color or black as with the glass trimmings. Just below the end of the cove prior to the rear wheel well dual shiny topped exhaust peek out. Just a sample of the heavy breathing this mill can achieve. On back the triple taillights, now nice aero designs are above a body matching neoprene crash bumper. Satin silver 18-inch Cobra R Wheels are all around and consigner states original tires are in their original mounting positions from the factory.

Interior
Dark Charcoal Recaro sculpted high back racing style buckets are flanking a rounded center console in lighter gray. Here we see a B&M Ripper shifter mounted, and as the center console rises to the dash it takes the edge lines and forms them into dual curved “eyebrows” for the dash. One side houses the instruments, and the other a small curved shelf and glove box below. This is all original equipment. Factory condition gray carpeting is flooding the floors, and in back a rear bench delete has been performed with just some felting covering where the seat would be. A nice gray headliner is above and of course perfection!

Drivetrain
A 5.4 Liter DOHC V8 which produces a whopping 385hp is in and is fed by EFI which is finicky and only will burn ethanol free fuel 92/93 octane so be careful. A T56 6-speed manual transmission is on back, and Ford provides the 8.8-inch 3.55 TracLoc rear axle. Can you say minty?

Undercarriage
Like new with cast aluminum aplenty and all non corroded. Factory part stickers are still attached, and the floorpan has a bit of red overspray. Borla Mufflers calm down the sound but do not interfere with the exhale, and all 3-inch stainless Bassani X pipe is noted coming from the engine on to the quick side exit. Independent Eibach coil spring suspension is on all 4 corners. Brembo disc brakes which are vented, (factory installed), are up front. Power disc brakes, non Brembo, are on the back.

Drive-Ability
Due to low miles we decided against the test track, however it fires right up, and it is assumed all working excellent condition, based on fully documented mileage.
A definite collector car, (owned by a few), but you may be tempted to have it spread its wings and break it out for what I'm sure would be an E ticket ride on any back road. Most would be oblivious to the special thoroughbred you are actually driving, however those that know, know.

A real time capsule, #245 of 300 total, and low miles make this a real sweet piece of automotive candy. Comes with its original window sticker, bumper delivery sticker, original build sheet, jack instructions and the completely intact SVT 3-ring binder with all the factory certificates, original engraved serial plate and paperwork. The owner's manual is still sealed in plastic and it also has the factory keys and fobs. Has an unbroken chain of ownership and the original tires in their original position that have never been left on the ground while in storage. The hood is 100% original and has none of the common bubbling of the paint seen on the earlier cars. A must see in person car, and you'd better be real serious because it's highly unlikely you'll be able to go for a frivolous test drive in the near future unless you were seriously planning to “pony” up the dough!
