Wonderful Paint/Ghost Flames/18 Inch Shelby Wheels/383 Stroker/4-Speed Muncie
1967 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe
The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro is an American pony car which appeared in Chevrolet dealerships on September 29,1966 for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2 plus 2 seater. The RS was an appearance package that included hidden headlights, revised taillights with back-up lights under the rear bumper, RS badging, and exterior bright trim. It was available on any model.
For consignment, a real gem with the first generation Camaro which our consigner has owned since 1980. Since that time, he's bathed it in ruby red, airbrushed some ghost flames, jesters, dice and a few skulls on it, added in a custom interior, and plopped a 383ci stroker V8 under the hood with TPI. Read on and you too will be impressed, and if you are you'd better get your butt in here because these don't last long in our halls. Gone like a freight train, gone like yesterday…
Exterior
With it's pony car long front and short rear deck we can note all straight rust free steel, and it's all bathed in the deep end of the gem ruby red. Throughout the exterior there are some lightly airbrushed dice, skulls and jesters along with some purple and red ghost flames licking rearward from the grille. This is accented with nice chrome thin bumpers, and window trimmings. In front a chin spoiler in black is sweeping near the road. Gaps are well minded throughout, and with the 18-inch American Racing Carroll Shelby Special Edition polished wheels through which you can see the upgraded disc brakes, wrapped in all season low profile black wall rubber. I'd say just 4c condition overall, (Clarity, Color, Cut. and Carat weight), overall. Im telling' ya…Gone like a soldier in the Civil war, Bang, Bang…
Interior
Inside ruby red vinyl with embossed bowtie badges, billet style actuator and crank and an inset speaker, just this is enough to get tongues wagging'. Thin chrome accenting and all in pristine gray painted metal make up the sills. Moving inside encased within a roll bar, are near showroom condition low back buckets with gray broadcloth inserts and body grabbing high bolsters in ruby red vinyl. In back a matching styled to the front buckets rear 2 plus 2 bench is in and also looking great! Floors are flooded in gray carpeting, unfaded and unsoiled and sporting ruby red floor mats. The dash has been modernized with a new white faced Autometer gauge cluster. This is flanked by the original configuration side panels with knobs, pulls and the ignition. In the center is custom fabricated metal panel which has a centrally located air vent on top with the temp sliders below, a digital Sony AM/FM/CD stereo system, and just below for the bottom is a lineup of white faced gauges within a metal panel to keep you finger on the pulse of this beauty. One like a 59 Cadillac, like all the good things that ain't never comin' back…
Drivetrain
Under the hood and my partner in crime need to slap me as I was totally hypnotized by the machinists dream I couldn't take my eyes off of! What did I behold but a 383ci stroker with EFI in the form of tuned port injection. Plenty of chromed and polished bolt ons, shiny headers, and on back a 4-speed manual Muncie. Way back to spin the rear tires is a 12-bolt, 3.55 posi rear axle so they will both spin at the same time!
Undercarriage
Underneath looks as though it just left the showroom with pristine black unibody construction which seamlessly melts into the floor pans and rockers and is peppered with shiny Flowmaster exhaust snaking its way through all the undercarriage components. This includes independent coil over front suspension, and 4-link with coil overs for the rear. CPP Tubular A arms are in front and Heidts rear suspension is also seen. Also, a CPP brake kit is on front and big power discs for the rear.
Drive-Ability
This car fires up with barely a turn of the ignition, and idles like it's ready to be unleashed. So, I did a no holds barred out to the test track where it performed beautifully. Head snapping acceleration, good rail like handling, and power disc bias free stopping. All pure 67 Camaro in non SS, RS Z/28 trim, but able to kick all those asses and more. She's gone! (gone), Gone! (gone)…literally
All are just the results of a painstaking restoration, custom paint job, a strong power plant, great classic interior look with newly configured dash, and the beauty of an undercarriage with goodies added courtesy CPP. The 1967 never looked to the eye with so much bling, so go ahead and don the Wayfarers on and have a look for yourself!
