Description

1970 Chevrolet El Camino Custom

Car History

Chevrolet El Camino was a coupe utility vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959–1960 and 1964–1987. Unlike a pickup truck, the El Camino was adapted from a two-door station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body.

The later El Caminos received sheet metal revisions back then that gave the bodies a more squared-up stance and the interiors were also redesigned. A lot of collectors think the 1970 El Camino is the most desirable body style of all.

The 1970 El Camino Custom we have here at Adventure Classics has had a frame-off resto around 2000 and was repainted in white with Imron paint, has a custom interior, and is powered by a Gen IV 6.0 LS engine with a Stage 1 LS3 cam and 102mm self-learning programmable induction/computer system with over 456 horsepower.

Engine & Drivetrain

Originally under the hood was a 350 cubic inch engine with around 350 horsepower, but now it sports a Gen IV 6.0 LS with a Stage 1 LS3 cam and 102mm self-learning programmable induction/computer system capable for providing fuel & air for up to 750 horse, Karl's Kustoms sells similar engine with smaller cam rated 456 horse.

It has the black injectors and cover, polished valve covers, ram air intake system, Willwood power disc brakes, power steering, twin fan radiator system, aftermarket air conditioning, with all sitting in a very clean and detailed engine compartment.

The drive train, and most other parts, have less than 1000 miles! Suspension has all been replaced, tubular control arms all around, adjustable in rear, sway bar beefed in front, added in rear, air assist added to rear for towing.

Brake system is all new, disc all 4 corners. Steering new quick-ratio box. Radiator, AC Condenser, AC Compressor and accessory drive components are all new. Towing provision for 4 or 7 pin setups w/electric brakes.

It was converted to manual transmission using a new Tremec Magnum 6-speed with 2 overdrive gears and has had the rear end replaced with a Moser fabbed housing for the GM A-body using a 9" Ford center section with 3.25 gears & Trulock.

It rides on fat chrome polished 10-spoke aftermarket mag wheels shod with black sidewall performance tires.

Interior

The interior is exactly what you want to see, a well restored custom presentation in a deep black with its twin adjustable bucket seats by Procar, matching door panels, rear seat, and headliner, Chevrolet logo floor mats, billet steering wheel, factory dash with the round Thunder Road aftermarket performance gauges, shifter in the center console, Pioneer updated stereo radio, nice carpet with floors & doors covered with Dynamat, and sill plates that make this a super-nice cockpit.

Exterior

Nothing stands our more than a white El Camino SS with a black vinyl top and matching black tonneau cover, that 70's front grill, proper badging, and Mag-style wheels make for an awesome El Camino.

There is also great details everywhere from the classic chrome bumpers to the bedliner and carpet in the bed and chrome tips on the dual exhausts.

It also comes with all kind of original paperwork as well as the Protect-O-Plate too!

Conclusion

The very nice 1970 Chevrolet El Camino we have here at Adventure Classics has been garaged & maintained by classic car guys its entire life.

It is very well done and will make the new owner a great cruiser to add to the collection. It is a very strong runner and looks and sounds great too.
