Rebuilt Flathead V8/All New Wiring/Pristine Undercarriage/Excellent Oak Bed

1936 Ford Pickup

The 1935 Ford pickup was the first year for the new body style. It was taller and more defined than in previous years. The cabs were no longer bolted together using wood for a sub-structure. They were a one-piece cab. The visor on the cab would disappear as would the square cabs. The beds increased to 69 inches of load length. In 1935 the spare tire was mounted on the side of the bed, this was a first for Ford and would continue for 14 years. The 221ci Flathead V8 was producing a whopping 85hp. The wheelbase was stretched to 112 inches. For those who thought the rear sliding back glass was a product of the 80's, think again. It was introduced as an option in 1935, although very few farmers saw the value, so in 1947 the idea was dropped.

For consignment hailing from Massachusetts, and put into the capable hands of a former Pratt and Whitney engineer for its revival, we have all Henry steel, nicely painted, and looking like a show piece as well as winning awards while doing so. Powered by a Flathead V8 this nimble mind 30's truck is a nice find, and we are pleased to have it taking up space in our hallowed former outlet mall halls. We give you the 1936 Ford Pickup. Exterior
A two tone color paint job is always adding interest to these exterior fender vehicles, and this one is definitely an eye catcher. With its black surrounded shield styled vertical ribbed grille and curvaceous undulating exterior mounted fenders connected by a convenient running board, it gives access to the sides of the bed. These black fenders frame wide white wrapped artillery wheels painted black with a Art Deco styled V8 logo chromed moon cap in the center. This includes the fender mounted spare on the passenger's side added as a 5th wheel and providing an ever ready spare. Behind the black surrounded grille is a deep red painted cowled hood with side venting and a large blue oval badge and the V8 designation. Nicely fabricated rounded over cab design has a clear view out the rear glass and sports a stalk round rear view side mirror and a pristine entry handle. A steel sided rolled bed in red is contrasting with the fenders and is nearly perfect in its presentation. Lining the bed is nice warm oak with metal mounting dividers and a solid steel tailgate with embossed stamped Ford badging.

Interior
In keeping with the excellent yet utilitarian theme, a simple black vinyl bench is sitting on a red metal painted box structure. Black rubber flooring is covering all the lower surfaces and frost pattern textured plastic is on the door panels. These create a noise field for the door actuator and window crank to play within and show off their shine. A simple metal painted red dash has a center steering wheel panel with the gauges and these are beautifully restored original gauges that have a very nice aged warm tone to them. The big bakelite steering wheel is fronting this dash and just to the driver's left, are 2 additional aftermarket gauges showing water temp. and oil pressure readings. Covering the pillars and headlining is more of the frost pattern molded plastic which is virtually bulletproof as too scratching and heavy use.

Drivetrain
Under the cowls is a beautifully restored and detailed green block 221ci Flathead V8 engine. All the head bolts are shining brightly, and hoses and wiring are excellent in their presentation. An oil bath air cleaning system is covering the single 2-barrel carburetor and the original green painted intake manifold on top of the block. An original 3-speed manual transmission is on, and this throws power rearward to a 4.11 axle.

Undercarriage
A meticulous restoration by that P&W engineer prior to our current consigners acquisition, has yielded a showroom undercarriage with pristine metal framing, body hangers, and suspension parts. All bathed in a semi gloss black we note a transverse leaf sprung rear axle, and upfront yet another transverse leaf spring. Mechanical drum brakes are on hence the artillery wheels to hide them from the outside view. Simplicity in its X frame design, the red metal cab floors and the underside of the wood bed, possibly have never seen wet weather driving conditions they are that nice!

Drive-Ability
This truck started quickly, and ran like a champion good looking award winning truck it truly purports to be. Good handling, and the mechanical drums are strong stoppers. Smooth effortless shifting gives the driver that 30's wonderful transmission whine you get when accelerating up through the gears.

A great looker, simple but elegant interior, beautiful looking and running drivetrain, and near perfect oak lined bed, what else can I say but get here fast, as a truck in this condition will not be here very long!
