1970 Plymouth Satellite Station Wagon
The Satellite was the high-end Belvedere and available in many forms with several engine options. One rare form is the Satellite wagon, which was an ode to the muscle car 2 door coupe version, but one could travel with the family, and look cool while doing so.
For consignment, a 1 owner car for the past 51 years, purchased new in Ambler, PA in 1970. Never involved in any mishaps, all in excellent condition, numbers matching drivetrain, green metallic paint with black accenting, roof rack and room for 6 and all their belongings can be stowed in the back. Well maintained, and it looks like it just drove off the showroom floor.
Exterior
With its sleeker grille design new for 1970 dual headlights lead the way and the grille is surrounded by a thin chrome trimming. Body matching metallic green has some small black accenting adhered to it, and the upper parts of this car, (hood, roof and beltline), are all bathed in shiny black. Coke bottle styled slab sides are nice and straight, rust free, and have well minded gaps. This 4-door wagon stretches rearward, with plenty of chrome trimmed glass for a panoramic view as you travel across the country. A roof rack option is on top, and tinted glass keeps things inside just a bit cooler. On back the black accenting curves to a nice V in the center of the tailgate where the green takes over and fully encompasses the gate and rear bumper in the body matching green. 15-inch polished Centerline wheels are now on, giving this family hauler a sporty look, and adding bling to all the corners. These are wrapped with newer rubber. A fine example sitting right here in our showroom.
Interior
A swing of one of the 4 doors and we are greeted with a horizontal wood appliqué panel trimmed in chrome with a red, white and blue badge, and for the driver, a mirror joystick. Metallic green paint surrounds this panel, then it changes to two tone green and light green vinyl which houses the door handle and armrest, the window crank, and a stereo speaker. The lower portion of the driver's door is coming apart just a bit on the vinyl, however it is definitely more cosmetic than an actual problem. Inside a like new bench seat is seen in front. This uses smooth green vinyl for the bolsters and then a gold trim also in vinyl which frames black checkered pattern broadcloth inserts, all in mint condition. The original dash fronts this bench and is in green with more wood appliqué accenting and black rectangular designed gauges. An original steering wheel in green with a black center “fratzog” horn rim center. In the center of the dash is an overhang which houses the temp and fan buttons hanging from it. Just below is an aftermarket radio from Sony which has AM/FM/CD/MP3 capabilities and is neatly installed in place of the original. Below the dash are some extra aftermarket gauges. In back another big bench stretches across and is in the same pattern and color way as the front bench. Way back is reserved for storage and has a carpeted hinged covering which houses the spare and jack. Also, in back, extra stereo speakers are hanging off of the back pillars. A white headliner is above, and like new green carpeting floods all the floors.
Drivetrain
Under the hood within a nicely preserved and detailed engine bay sits a blue block 318ci V8. This is a numbers matching unit and has a single 4-barrel carburetor on top. A numbers matching A904 3-speed automatic transmission is on the back of this mill and an 8-3/4-inch rear axle is present and accounted for.
Undercarriage
Nicely patina black surfaces are all but rust free, structurally sound and have been well cared for over the last 51 years. Torsion bars are upfront and on the back, leaf springs. Drum brakes are all around, and a clean dual exhaust is seen. Also, the consigner notes that there is a slight nagging leak from the transmission, and you can see some of the blowback underneath near the transmission. It is there but certainly not overwhelming.
Drive-Ability
This car fired right up and ran like it was just driven off of the lot. Smooth acceleration and some nice kick when pushing the throttle in courtesy the 4 bbl carb. Smooth shifting, and bias free braking. Great power steering and the A/C blows fairly cold (it's 134A). The hood mounted turn signal indicators need new bulbs, the speedo is 10 to 12mph fast, and the rear tailgate only opens as tailgate motion and the window still works electrically.
A wonderful example of a muscle car in station wagon form. Well preserved, excellent paint, and a fun driver. The snappy interior is not only beautiful but comfy, and it is a really nice 1 owner example of suburbia transportation.

Big block power with 565 cubic inches of displacement and lots of friends, this car is wild. Opening on the sight of six American muscle car masterpieces, 1320 seemingly has their work cut out for them in the information department. That's because the collection features such icons as a bright red Chevrolet Bel Air, a yellow Camaro, and what looks like a lifted Chevrolet K10. In fact, the owner seems to have a mighty strong affection for GM and Chevrolet automobiles. On top of all that, there i read more
