1969 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe

The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro appeared in Chevrolet dealerships in September 1966 for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2 plus 2 seat, hardtop (no "B" or center pillar) or convertible, with the choice of either a straight-six or V8 engine. The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year.

This fully restored, and jam packed with power upgrades 1969 Z28 clone version is as beautiful as it is powerful. A shining example of taking an amalgamation of performance parts and stuffing them into straight steel beautifully painted and all rust free. Traction bars, Cragar wheels and a rear facing big scoop hood all added to a big sum of total of muscle!

Exterior
The recipient of a painstaking restoration with straight sheetmetal and proper alignment, this was all taken to bare metal, epoxy primed given a pearl white base coat, then clear coated. Prior to the clear coating though wide blue dual racing stripes were painted on. All markers and lighting were replaced, all new body mounts and bushings, door hinges, locks, chrome bumpers and brite work. A big rear facing scooped hood was added to give some extra breathing room to the 383ci encased within the engine bay. Brute-Work and badging as well as bumpers and window trimmings are all looking shiny and fab. On the back a small rear spoiler attached to the trunk lid and just below is a pristine bumper framing the horizontal taillights. 14 inch and 15-inch front and rear Cragar 5 spokes are on all 4 corners.

Interior
Picking up nicely from the exterior blue stripes, we see a sea of blue nice condition vinyl. This is covering the door panels which are nearly showroom, and the buckets which are high back versions with large headrests attached. In the back is a blue 2 plus 2 rear bench just as nice as the front buckets. In the center is a blue molded vinyl console and it sports a wood insert which frames the floor shifter. Just in front of the shift lever is a quad of cascading gauges to monitor engine vitals and gives you a constant heads up reading of said numbers. The dash is original and has the factory steering wheel in front. On the right of the column is an aftermarket tachometer with a shift light and an aftermarket radio is now installed. Blue carpeting in nice condition is on the floppers and above is a tight blue vinyl headliner. We are ready to roll!

Drivetrain
Under the scooped hood is now a 383ci V8 stroker with it's heartbeat provided by a mechanical lifter camshaft. On top is a Holley 750cfm double pumper carburetor to feed the hungry mill copious amounts of racing gas. A new Autogear 4-speed manual transmission is installed and it has a low first gear to aid with those launchings. Within the blow proof bellhousing is a center force clutch and pressure plate. A 12-bolt posi rear is sporting 3.73 gears and is fed power from the transmission via a Denny's driveshaft. All this is kept in temp check with a B-Cool aluminum radiator with a serpentine belt setup for the alternator, and fan. …..OOOOH YEAH!

Undercarriage
Plenty of attention has been paid to the undercarriage with straight rust free steel, floor pans that are like new, and rust free rockers. The bottom end of the engine is drip free and looks like new. Stainless steel headers run to a Flowmaster exhaust that makes its way to the back of the machine. Independent coil springs are on front and on back are leaf springs, again just black paint and no rust. Power disc brakes are on front, and power drums for the rear. All looking great under here!

Drive-Ability
This car fires up with a mighty roar, and performed much like the roar at the start. Out on the test track it has wonderful launching from that low first gear, and unlimited acceleration. The Autogear manual is snappy and working perfectly. Braking was solid. The speedometer, reverse lighting, odometer and horn all were not functioning during the test drive.

All buttoned up mechanically and exterior, a Z28 clone car which definitely looks and performs the part. Beautiful color combos, all ready to roll in style and even add a bit of excitement to your right foot. Also, all engine specs are there for your viewing to see all the tight tolerances.
