1999 Pontiac Trans Am Pace Car
The 30th Anniversary Edition of the Pontiac Trans Am was a special car, and was the pace car for the Daytona 500 of that year. Pontiac came out with a run of special Trans Ams for the 500 with special stickers and badges for track day duty. For the vehicles available to the general consumer, the decal package could be purchased for under $500 and added to your car.
For consignment, a somewhat rare high horsepower muscle car. One of a mere 1065 30th Anniversary coupe editions this 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has a 5.7 LS1 Liter aluminum engine, the most potent engine in any GM car aside from the Chevrolet Corvette that year and has 320 horsepower, Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, WS6 package, special 17" blue tinted wheels, a beefed-up suspension system, upgraded dual exhaust and the Ram Air hood.
Exterior
With its exterior sculpted by the wind and vents, openings, cowls, and spoiler, this car presents with a fab line. Hidden headlights and an integrated body matching bumper and ram air hood and some stripes for this hood and it is pure sculpted sex! A T top with removable panels, black windshield and top surrounds, some venting in the front quarter to give the 5.7 liter LS1 plenty of room to breathe outside air. Some blue and black graphic flourishes along with the Daytona 500 multi colored badge on the doors, and Official Pace Car lettering on the rockers, its well...Official! Out back below the expanse of greenhouse rear glass is a nicely sculpted rear spoiler with a continuation of the blue stripe from the front of the car. Large rounded tail lighting and another integrated body matching bumper below and this car looks much like it is ready to race in its own right. Blue tinted alloy wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on all 4 corners. This paint scheme pays homage to the 1969 Trans Am with Arctic White paint which is in excellent condition and has all the right stripes.
Interior
Looking inside this car, the pure-white Prado leather-covered bucket seats look like they are brand-new, and some embroidery in blue is within the headrests. It retains the factory-installed Delco AM/FM CD Monsoon stereo player and its special limited-edition, numbered 30th Anniversary plaque (number 311) on the center console. The interior of this car is in excellent condition. Seen in back are more buckets finished in the same white Prada leather and present in almost never sat in condition. The dash is a large and busy piece of engineering and design, analog gauges with orange needles that are sharp looking and easy to read. The digital odometer shows a mere 11,052 miles clocked on this car.
Drivetrain
With a 5.7 liter all aluminum LS1 engine, this car is the most potent from this year aside from the Corvette. Rated at 320hp it can get you to your destination in a hurry. A WS6 Ram air package is installed and is fed by the openings in the hood. A 6-speed manual transmission is on back. Putting power to the ground is a 3.42 geared Torsion limited slip 10-bolt differential.
Undercarriage
All showing in beautiful structurally sound condition with just a fine coating of surface rust on the usual suspects: some suspension, driveshaft, and rear axle. Floor Pans are stamped steel and show no corrosion. 4-wheel ABS disc brakes are on and this car has tuned suspension on all 4 corners. Also noted is a stainless steel low restriction exhaust system still pristine at the low 11K mileage point. Looking just great underneath.
Drive-Ability
Slipping inside this car harkens me back to the 1969 version to which this pays homage. It fired right up and ran like a dream with plenty o'power to say the least. It handles great, and all functions were working as they should. A very comfy interior and easy to drive car.
The 30th Anniversary Trans Am is a head turner. More than anything else, the special graphics and curvaceous design really set it off, and then it has the LS1 and the Ram Air, which in my opinion is the knockout punch. Even sitting quietly in your garage, it is about as subtle and politically correct as an official NASCAR race car ready for the track. If you want attitude, and power to back it up, then this 1999 Pontiac Trans Am 30th Anniversary Edition with Daytona Pace Car decals is the one you need to be sitting full time in.
