"Bandit Before The Smokey"
Here is an interesting fact, the "Blackbird" Trans Am used in Smokey and the Bandit was actually a '76 that was dressed up to look like a '77 because they didn't have a '77 available for the movie. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this beautiful 1976 Pontiac Trans Am for your consideration. Covered in Starlght Black with black interior, this is a breathtaking car in more than one way. The classic muscle car look speaks for itself, but the brutal horsepower of the Pontiac 455 finishes the conversation. A fresh, era correct engine rests under the functioning "Shaker" hood scoop. It has been machined to a 460 and features a Butler Performance rotating assembly, Edelbrock carb, Hooker headers, and a Holley electric fuel pump and regulator. This is a solid car that lived most of its life in New Mexico.. All of the interior components have been refinished or replaced. That includes all new interior panels, door panels, headliner, carpet, trim pieces, and steering wheel. The seats are all refinished with new covers, panels, and new seat foam for the front buckets. When you climb in to this "Blackbird', YOU"RE THE BANDIT! So get ready to take a run down the highway and stay ahead of the Smokey! Drive this one out of our showroom or have us assist with shipping it to you anywhere in the United States! Don't hesitate to give us a call with any questions or for more information.
Introduced in 1970, the second generation Firebird was only available as a fastback coupe. Designed in tandem with the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird was a popular halo car for the Pontiac range. Government regulations started killing muscle cars in the 1970's left and right. However, Pontiac kept producing the Firebird Trans-Am with specs that were on the edge of legality, with perhaps some fudging of some horsepower numbers. Of course, Smokey and the Bandit made the late 70's models a highly desired and iconic piece of cultural automotive history that still hold mass appeal to this day.
