1951 Ford F1 Pickup

The 1951 Ford pickup was a pivotal member of Ford's "Bonus Built" line of postwar trucks. The line was announced early in 1948 and ran through 1952. It was the broadest roster in Ford truck history, spanning vehicles from half-ton pickups to three-ton commercial haulers.

For consignment and gracing our hallowed halls, having the pleasure to host this one, a 1951 Ford F1 pickup. Fully restored, some tricks added, and a really nice turnkey example to be used as a daily driver, or an excellent promotional piece. All bathed in Rose Gray Metallic, with some 15-inch chrome nugget wheels, and nice straight rust free restored metal exterior rounded panels.

Exterior
Leading the way are the two rounded front fenders, that melt themselves into the grille which is flanked by a single headlight on either side. This large fender rolls past a nose shaped rounded hood that flows on to the bottom the contour of these fenders and has the trim spear in chrome with the Ford badge along with the F1 designation within this spear. F O R D is also attached to the front on the top of the body matching large grille and a very small V8 chromed graphic badge is topping the front of the hood. As the fenders move towards the doors, they morph into running boards which dangle below the doors and allow access to the cab. These boards move straight towards the rear, where they swoop upward, and form the rear rounded fiberglass fenders, which frame the metal sides of the bed of this truck. On the back is the Ford painted on badge in script form and body matching color, which presents itself in the middle of the tailgate. The rear bumper has been beautifully re-plated, and now dual round taillights flank the tailgate. Way below are rectangular backup lights. In the middle is the rounded cab, with straight doors, perfectly chromed outside mirrors, and handles, and all Rose Gray Metallic window surrounds. All surfaces are painted with miles deep highly polished paint. A pristine oak and metal strapped bed makes up the nice floor of the bed. 15-inch chrome nugget wheels highly polished present on all 4 corners.

Interior
Featured is a "Million Dollar Cab" (it cost $1 million to design and tool) which Ford proclaimed. It had "Living-Room" comfort, and it was much higher and wider than before, and better fitted. This cab features a better than factory gray covered vinyl bench seat. This stretches from pristine door panel to pristine door panel also making use of the gray vinyl and some exterior paint color on the metal surfaces of these doors. Upfront is an original looking restored dash which now has 2 round gauges in front of the newly painted steering wheel. In the middle a ribbed speaker panel painted Rose Gray has a Pioneer aftermarket AM/FM/CD radio now neatly inserted. Just below is a trio of aftermarket gauges hanging, along with the relocated ignition. On the passenger's side is the glovebox and below black heater box with Ford badge. Rose colored clean carpet floods the floors and rising proudly from the center is a long gear shift lever, with a glass blown flower-like topper, well within ergonomic reach of the driver. The headliner is gray utilitarian hard thin fiberboard and is perfectly and neatly inserted above.

Drivetrain
Under the hood a 350ci V8 engine, in polished aluminum, red block paint, and chrome is backed up to a Rose Gray Metallic painted steel firewall. A red water pump, new radiator, generator, and air cleaner cover also adorn this mill jewelry, and it is topped with a 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor and red painted intake. A Muncie 4-speed manual transmission is installed. All new wiring is on so states the consigner.

Undercarriage
Leaf springs for the front and rear, are attached to a black painted frame. Invasive rust is seen in the running board areas and repairs were done to the outer rockers during the restoration. A Cherrybomb style exhaust forms after the downward spiral of the exhaust manifolds on the sides of this 350ci V8. Drum brakes are on all 4 corners, and new kingpins and brakes and wheel cylinders are now on.

Drive-Ability
Several electrical issues with this test drive with the front turn signals and marker lighting going on when I pressed the brakes. The speedometer does not register any speed or mileage, and the consigner states the gas gauge is not accurate. The truck ran fine with nice acceleration, good handling and it looks just great doing this. It's just the electrical issues that will need to be sorted out.

It's so simple for this consignment, walk in, grab the key, turn it on, drive it, pay for it, then drive it away and enjoy it for years to come. All the blood, sweat, and tears has been put into this F-1, with just excellent looks, and performance to beat the band. How's that for blowing its horn!
