By 1970, the Chevelle had already captured Chevy enthusiasts hearts and this year's design and performance changes enhanced their love for the model. The '70 model year saw an edgier body introduced with a more squared-up stance in contrast with the curves of the '69 year-model. Enhancing the SS option, Chevelle owners saw increased offerings that came with the SS badge. Buyers could choose from a 396 or 454 cubic inch V8. The SS received a "power dome" hood, black accented grill and rear bumper insert. The sport wheels on the SS where equipped with wide-oval tires. There was no doubt with the introduction of '70 Chevelle SS that this car would become a legend.
Produced in the Kansas City, MO plant and originally delivered new by Mystery Lake Motors in Thompson, Manitoba, Canada, this 1970 Chevelle SS is powered by its matching-numbers LS6 454ci/450hp Turbo-Jet V8 tied to a M22 Muncie Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission. 12-bolt differential, Holley 4-barrell carburetor, Winters aluminum intake, solid lifter cam, dual exhaust, ZL2 cowl-induction hood RPO Z15 added engine chrome, bright exhaust tips, power front disc brakes and heavy-duty suspension round out an outstanding Chevelle build. Added power-steering lends to a great drive. Finished on the exterior in its correct Classic White with black SS stripes, all around the exterior of this car it is obvious that it experienced great restoration, maintenance and care. Wheel well brightwork, chrome bumpers, SS454 callouts and 5-spoke SS wheels sitting on correct F70 14" Firestone Wide Oval white-letter tires round out an outstanding exterior. Open and door and the contrasting correct code 788 red vinyl Strato bucket seats with center console jump out at you. There is something about red interior against a white exterior that stirs something inside a muscle car lover and this interior does just that. The interior of this car presents the same as the exterior in terms of care and maintenance. Loaded with documentation, this car comes with original build sheet, original warranty card, original new new vehicle warranty and owner Protection Plan with original owner's handwritten information when delivery was taken on February 7, 1970. Original GM of Canada warranty document and GM of Canada Documentation with every RPO code listed is also included.
