The Camaro was introduced by Chevrolet in 1967 as an answer to the venerable Ford Mustang which started what became known as the pony car wars. This battle waged between the Camaro and Mustang for the next 35 years until Chevrolet discontinued the Camaro. The 4th generation of the Camaro was introduced in 1993 and featured svelte aerodynamic bodywork which was a complete 180 from the boxy 3rd generation. The 4th gen was originally released with the LT1 engine but soon the new LS1 5.7L V8 would make its way under the Camaro's hood starting in 1997. But the fun would only last 5 years as the 2002 model year marked the end of the 4th generation and the Camaro itself until 2010 when the Camaro made a comeback and the pony car war started a new chapter.

For the 2000 model year Chevrolet produced an impressive 45,417 Camaros in which nearly half the buyers chose the Z28 performance option; the center piece being the all-aluminum 5.7L LS1 V8 rated at 305hp and 335 lb.-ft. of torque. For an additional $3,950 customers could option their Camaro Z28 with the SS Performance and Appearance package which increased power to 320hp and 345 lb.-ft. of torque in addition to other cosmetic upgrades. 8,913 customers chose to upgrade their Z28 with the SS option in which 7,341 chose the coupe body style. Of those, 2,569 chose the 4-speed automatic transmission and 498 selected Rally Red as their color choice.

This Z28 SS presents in excellent condition and looks superb as it is 1 of 498 Z28 SS coupes produced with an automatic transmission in Rally Red for the 2000 model year. It features a uniquely appointed Ebony cloth interior with seating for 4. This example had a base price of $21,515 and is equipped with $7,380 in optional equipment consisting of the SS package, T-tops, limited slip differential, electric rear window defogger, and the 500-watt Monsoon sound system for a total as delivered price of $29,445. Additional exterior features include a hood scoop, rear spoiler, fog lights, and 17" aluminum wheels. Additional interior features include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power locks, and power driver's seat.

This 3-owner example was sold new at Hank Graff Chevrolet in Davison, Michigan and remained with the original owner in Saginaw, Michigan through March of 2013 accumulating just 14,500 miles. The 2nd owner, from Reese, Michigan, retained the vehicle through May of 2019 accumulating just 1,350 miles over 6 years and 2 months of ownership when it was sold to its 3rd owner, from Saline, Michigan, with just under 16,000 original miles and now today shows just under 17,200 original miles.

The care this example has received over the years is quite evident as overall it is in excellent condition. The interior appears as new and the exterior has a handful of extremely minor imperfections from normal enjoyment over the last 20 years. Per the Carfax it has a well-documented history of routine maintenance and has never been the recipient of any damage. The only modification is a stainless steel SLP cat-back exhaust installed by the 3rd owner. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a phenomenal gen 4 Z28 SS complete with the original window sticker, books, manuals, both sets of keys with working fobs, other GM literature, and past maintenance history.
