1951 Ford F1 Pickup

The 1951 Ford pickup was a pivotal member of Ford's "Bonus Built" line of postwar trucks. The line was announced early in 1948 and ran through 1952. It was the broadest roster in Ford truck history, spanning vehicles from half-ton pickups to three-ton commercial haulers.

For consignment and gracing our hallowed halls, having the pleasure to host this one, a 1951 Ford F1 Pickup. Fully restored, some tricks added, and a really nice turnkey example to be used as a daily driver, or an excellent promotional piece. A tick under 12,000 miles since the rebuild, she's a wonderful driver, and a great looker...read on!

Leading the way are the two rounded front fenders, that melt themselves into the grille which is flanked by a single headlight on either side. This large fender rolls past a nose shaped rounded hood that flows on to the bottom the contour of these fenders and has the trim spear in chrome with the Ford badge along with the F1 designation within this spear. F O R D is also attached to the front on the top of the body matching large grille and a very small V8 chromed graphic badge is topping the front of the hood. As the fenders move towards the doors, they morph into running boards which dangle below the doors and allow access to the cab. These boards move straight towards the rear, where they swoop upward, and form the rear rounded fenders, which frame the metal sides of the bed of this truck. On back is the Ford painted on badge in script form in white, which presents itself in the middle of the tailgate. The rear bumper has been shaved, and now dual modern inset taillights are just below the tail gate. Way below are 3-inch chrome tipped exhaust pipes peeking out on either side. In the middle is the rounded cab, with straight doors, perfectly chromed outside mirrors, and handles, and all black window surrounds. All surfaces are painted with miles deep highly polished red paint. 15-inch chromed American Racing wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped by BF Goodrich T/A's. A pristine oak and metal strapped bed makes up the nice floor of the bed.

Featured is a "Million Dollar Cab" (it cost $1 million to design and tool) which Ford proclaimed. It had "Living-Room" comfort, and it was much higher and wider than before, and better fitted. This cab features a better than factory 2 tone red and black vinyl bench seat. This stretches from pristine door panel to pristine door panel also making usage to the two-tone materials. Upfront is a custom-tailored dash which now has chrome bezeled AutoMeter white faced gauges clustered within a black panel on the driver's side. In the middle a ribbed speaker panel painted silver and bounded by a chrome trim piece has a Jensen aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette radio now neatly inserted. On the passenger's side is the glovebox with FORD badge. Black carpet floods the floors and rising proudly from the center is a lining gear shift lever, with a coral-like topper, well within ergonomic reach of the driver. The headliner is black utilitarian hard thin fiberboard and is perfectly inserted above.

Under the hood a 350ci crate engine, in polished aluminum and chrome is backed up to a stainless-steel firewall. A very polished and chromed water pump, radiator, generator, and air cleaner cover also adorn this mill jewelry, and it is topped with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake. Nice use of stainless braided hoses throughout is noted, and a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit installed, is strapped to the back, and way back is a Ford 9-inch rear, with a 3.73 rear axle.

A Mustang II front end and leaf springs for the rear, are attached to a very solid frame which was fully attended to during the body off restoration of this truck. Dual fuel tanks, one behind the seat, and another under the bed are noted, and a glasspack style exhaust forms after the downward spiral of the headers on the sides of this 350. Power disc brakes are upfront, and power drums are on the rear, and all underneath is looking just peachy.

Our well-heeled (and footed) test track genius took the wheel for the test drive, and reported it fired right up, and could not stop complimenting how smooth and powerful of a driver this truck is. Definitely a turnkey truck ready to go and show or slap some logos on there and use it as the boss' truck and get some promotion to your business as you tool around town.
