1967 Dodge Dart GT

Muscle cars are essentially about math, plain and simple–a basic, easily measured power-to-weight ratio. Put a bigger, more powerful engine in a smaller, lighter car, properly calculate gearbox and axle ratios, and you will almost always have a faster trip down the strip. When the Dart design was updated for 1967, giving the model more of that folded-square, big-car style then used throughout the Chrysler Corp's lineup, it got a big-time boost in the form of the 383-cu.in. big block, then only previously found in larger cars.

For consignment a do the math car with 340ci V8, Edelbrock 4-barrel carb, snappy yellow paint and interesting 67 muscle car graphics. A real deal car, all buttoned up and ready to turn the key and spin the tires kinda car right here and now at Classic Auto Mall. Flex your muscle (car!)

Exterior
They call me mellow yellow…that's right, but not mellow in this case. This screaming yellow zonker, actually starts out upfront with some nice chrome for the vertical ribbed grille, a single headlight on either side, and a pristine bumper below. Then the yellow painted panels take over, on the hood with dual side vents seen on either side of a bump on the hood. We move rearward to the windshield and other passenger glass, and this is surrounded by very nice trimmings and brite work, drip moldings mirrors and door handles. Even a trim spear at the belt line is looking just great bumping up and down from the tops of the front and rear quarters, to the near top of the door sills. For the rear a large surrounding black stripe with a Mopar badge on either side wraps the rear quarters, and the back of the trunk lid. Two square taillights hang on either edge of the rear panel, and some more horizontal ribbing races between these lights and is nicely chromed. Another chrome bumper is below, and dual chrome tipped tailpipes peek out from under the bumper. 14-inch Cragar SS chrome wheels are all around and are wrapped by black wall radial rubber all around.

Interior
Inside the doors are covered with black horizontal ribbed door panels and original handles and cranks. Also, inside we note aftermarket large racing bolstered buckets in black vinyl, and these are looking new. The original black vinyl horizontal ribbed tuck and roll rear bench stretches from door panel to door panel and is looking just fine. The original dash presents with instruments like 1967, however some modifications have taken place like a quad lineup of aftermarket gauges which hang from the dash, some pin-striping, and a large tachometer that is attached to the steering column. A digital radio now sits where the original sat, and just above are 3 toggle switches. The original steering wheel presents well with the” Fratzog” logo in the center. Black carpet floods the floors, and a tight headliner in black hangs nicely above all thing's black vinyl. A shout to the trunk which sports a new fuel cell in fabricated aluminum, and it sits in a sea of black carpet as well.

Drivetrain
More screaming and gleaming for the engine bay with more yellow paint, a red block 340ci V8 with an Edelbrock intake and Holley 4 bbl carb atop, and a 4-speed A-904 automatic with overdrive on back. Out way back is an 8.75-inch rear axle, and it has eyes on it, not just yours!

Undercarriage
A frame off restoration provides a total rust-free environment for the floor pans, fuel tank, and stainless steel Flowmaster cut out exhaust system. Torsion bar suspension up front, and leaf springs for the rear, all nicely painted yellow, and power disc brakes for upfront, and power drums for the rear are noted.

Drive-Ability
She fires right up and is definitely not mellow yellow!! It's got some game under that chromed blinged hood, and it can snap your neck when you press the pedal to the metal. You'll get a little tire smoke as well, and then she really takes off. This Mopar is no jo-kar, as it handles great, and stops on a dime. We did find that the speedometer is in-op and the odometer is in-op. Otherwise it's all good for this top banana.

All in all, a great restoration, nice paint and no stone left unturned. Great grabber seats, and the rear graphics are dripping Mopar from 1967. The chrome Cragars are a plus, as is the sight of the engine bay. A great example of a muscle car with the 340ci V8.
