5.0L EFI V8/Neo Classic Styling/Reliable Underpinnings/AOD Auto/Recaro Seating

1985 Zimmer Golden Spirit  

For consignment, a 1985 Zimmer Neo Classic Reproduction Motorcar in Golden Spirit form, which is based on the Ford Mustang platform.  This car has all the trappings of harkening back to the extravagant movie star era with its fender and running board design, exterior mounted spare tires, exposed through the hood exhaust piping, a chromed grille, and landau bar adorned roof.  I can hear the pops of the flashbulbs when you pull up to your destination and exit in goober smooch style.  Speed…Rolling…  ACTION!

Exterior
If you look closely, you can see the car's humble beginnings in the creased cove doors and roofline which has the Mustang origins.  From that point though the car is all fabricated custom molded fiberglass.  In front a chromed dual bar bumper leads the way and frames the bottom of the vertical ribbed chromed cowled radiator flaked by 4 long chromed horns and driving lights, get the hell outta my way you plebes…   Bullet cased chrome bezel headlights are on either side, and then the long hood takes over and runs back to the passenger compartment.  Shiny faux exhaust pipes sneak through this hood and dive under the fenders and running boards. The fenders have a covered faux spare tires reminiscent of the bygone era motoring of yore and no pesky income taxes, so spending was an unbridled look.  A squared off roofline with a small vertical rectangular opera window and the landau bars on either side of the overstuffed padded black vinyl roof.  In back a squared off trunk line has a luggage rack and another enclosed spare tire continental-esque rear.  All of this floats just above another dual bar chrome bumper.  This car's fiberglass is all bathed in black and from stem to curvaceous fender stern is looking nearly perfect.  Throw in some chromed wire wheels, a winged hood ornament, gold pinstriping for that uber rich look, and Beverly Hills mansion here we come.  CUT!

Interior
The factory Mustang doors are now covered in tan molded plastic and leather inserts with just a hint of wood burl accenting.  More modern inset door actuators are on the front top of each door.  Inside high back Recaro leather big bolster bucket seats, in light saddle, are there for the taking.  An enclosed console is now on the hump and houses a glovebox/armrest and shifter with more molded plastic and faux wood grain paneling.  This has a front panel with loads of toggles for power conveniences, also in a burl veneer field.  If you look closely, you can still envision the original Mustang dash with its black faced sweep round circular gauges, oval warning lighting, and AC vents.  It is now covered over with more molded tan plastic and is square and rectangle in its design.  Some stitched leather is also in this dash just for some extra class.  In front of the passenger is another squared off leather covered glovebox.   There is a back seat which is a leather covered bench and if you squeeze back there you can be shuttled around in chauffeured style, but the comfort is confined mainly to the front Recaros.  A gold plated Nardi steering wheel is wrapped in mahogany with a central Z badge horn.  I'm stepping out on the red carpet, please stand back and absolutely no autographs…

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 5.0 Liter V8 which is fed by EFI. On the back is an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission with a Ford 7.5 inch rear axle.  It's fairly clean under this rear hinged hood posing as a cowled hood, and no corrosion on any parts.  

Undercarriage
The 5.0 Mustang underpinnings remain in nice condition with just a bit of road splatter but all rust free and structurally sound.  Independent coil springs are in front and a 4 link with coil springs is on back provides the cushy ride.  Power front disc brakes and rear power drums are on tap.  

Drive-Ability
Feels like a Mustang, drives like a Mustang and handles like a Mustang, but looks like a million bucks.  All save for the quad of horns upfront, functions were working.  It's a head turner and an attention grabber.

You'll never feel so successful driving this Fox chassis classical looking roadster which was conceived on a napkin.  The secret to my success…”Im an asshole!”  Now outta my way.
