Taking a page from Carrol Shelby's playbook for channeling racing experience into track-capable street cars, Steve Saleen tuned Mustangs for a newer generation of enthusiast drivers, establishing himself with the Fox-body examples of the Eighties and early-Nineties, and continuing to elevate the Mustang's performance with subsequebnt generations of the original pony car.

The S281 Supercharged was the ultimate performance offering from Saleen in 2006, offering 435 horsepower—a 45-percent increase over the stock Mustang GT it was based on—along with complementary suspension upgrades and distinguishing styling enhancements inside and out. The example offered here delivers even more, with additional engine enhancements that push the 4.6L OHC V-8 engine's output even higher. The upgrades were performed professionally and the seller reports this pumped-up Saleen is a pavement-overpowering performer that challenges the best of today's modern muscle cars.

SALEEN S281 SUPERCHARGED EQUIPMENT
Based on the Mustang GT, the 2006 Saleen S281 Supercharged package added an intercooled twin-screw supercharger system, performance air intake, 2.5-inch center-exit exhaust system and a 3.55-geared limited-slip rear axle. Exterior enhancements included unique front and rear fascias, as well as a unique heat-extractor hood, rear wing, quarter-window panels, rocker panel covers and more.
