1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Station Wagon

The Malibu made its debut in 1964, hitting the market as a trim-level version of the Chevrolet Chevelle. The car could be purchased in a variety of different bodystyles (including a sedan, convertible, station wagon, or Sport Coupe hardtop). Featuring a luxurious interior (highlighted by vinyl upholstery and an innovative steering wheel) and the choice of either a six-cylinder or V8 engine (which could deliver up to 300 horsepower by 1964), the Malibu quickly became one of Chevy's most popular nameplates.

For consignment a somewhat rare bird as to production numbers 11,549 V8 4-door models, and even more rarely seen. This excellent example has only 2 owners, the first gave the car up when he turned 83 years old. This original owner from California, always garaged the car and took meticulous care of it. It then went into the hands of its second owner, our current consigner where it has come to his lucky hands. Lots of factory options, a mostly original car, save for a Butternut yellow respray 6 months ago.

Exterior
This Malibu wagon remains as straight as an arrow, with well held consistent gaps, nice trim and 6 month old paint. Some factory options added to the exterior are a shiny roof rack, rear air deflector, rain guards, power rear window, factory tow hitch, tow harness, and air shocks with a tow package. Also, on all 4 corners are 5 OEM 774 x 14 whites which wrap original 14 x 5 rally wheels. Butternut Yellow never looked so good, and so clean right out of the '67 Chevy dealer showroom.

Interior
Black vinyl straight and true and clean as a whistle on the door panels, and front and rear large and in charge benches. No stains, tears or signs of wear on all these surfaces. Sporting a power bench seat and in front of this bench is the original wood steering wheel with the tilt option, a factory AM/FM radio with rear speakers, and a very rare tissue dispenser. The original dash is also pristine condition, and all is working including the factory installed child locks. Way back is a clean cargo area covered with a textured padded rubberized plastic liner. Even the vinyl covered wheel wells and side rear storage area coverings are like new. Headliner is like new in black and carpeting floods all the floors in good fashion and clean.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a well preserved original 283ci V8 which is topped by a Rochester 2 Jet carb, and backed with a Powerglide 2-speed automatic. A 10-bolt rear axle is noted.

Undercarriage
Well preserved, all original barely has any road dirt on it. Looks like a restoration, but may just be a respray, but either way it is awesome looking. Literally showroom with independent coil spring suspension in front, and a 4-link system with coil springs on the rear. Power drum brakes are all around and a like new exhaust snakes its way to the back of the car.

Drive-Ability
I was anxious to do a test drive on this one, because I've never seen one. It did not disappoint me, with a quick start, smooth idle, and nice flow to the shifting of the automatic transmission. A great cruising car which felt like I was literally in a new car. All functions were working at the time of my drive.

A real piece of suburbia history, nearly perfectly preserved, lovingly cared for by its only 2 owners, and ready to be shown or driven this car will handle it. Pack your bags and yell road trip!... and you will be motoring in style and all the while turning heads.
