1976 Pontiac Firebird Esprit 

For consignment, a 1976 version of the Pontiac Esprit.  It is in excellent condition, always garaged, holds it numbers matching drivetrain, build sheet, and has been well maintained.  It was the beneficiary of a dealership repaint in the 90's due to paint fading and a seat recovering making the interior as nice as the exterior.  This all comes together to make this car a multi-time show winner.  Those awards include several 1st place finishes at the Ames Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk, OH, a 1st place win at the POCI show in Gettysburg, PA and a 1st place win at the SVGTO show in PA among countless other 1st place wins.  She's a stunner folks!

Exterior
Bathed in rust free Athena Blue, we see the tasteful version of the car known for a screaming chicken on its hood, and a powerful engine with lots of ponies.  This car is for the Pontiac enthusiast who does not need to make that kind of statement, just own a nice clean driver and do so in style with no loud shouting!  It has a single headlight up front in a body matching bezel, a split grille with just a hint of beak in the badged arrowhead center, and a body matching polyurethane bumper below.  A long pony hood, with no scoops or graphics just clean steel, is seen making its way back to the passenger compartment under all clean glass.  On top of the Athena Blue is a trim spear if you will which is a painted on stripe consisting of a central white arrow beginning on the top edge of the front quarter and running in an ever widening style as it moves through the door sills and eventually after which takes a turn upward and wraps around the top and the B pillar.  On its edges are thin back dual stripes top and bottom, and is very reminiscent of mid 1970's graphics of the time.  A nice wrap-around rear glass slopes gently towards the trunk which has a small spoiler on back that also wraps around the rear quarters.  A trio of horizontal ribbed tail lights stretches across the back panel and just below is another body matching neoprene bumper.  There is one “chicken logo” badge in the center of the spoiler.  The wheels are body matching painted 5 spoke Pontiac Rally II wheels, and these sport large deep trim rings and shiny arrowhead badged centers.  Plenty of shiny stainless trimmings is seen on the rockers, wheel well surrounds, and glass for the cabin.  Badging is all excellent and correct, and a shiny dual exhaust peeks out from under the rear roll pan.  A tasteful luxury coupe in 2 door form, although still very sporty.

Interior
A swing of the long doors, and we see an ivory/white interior starting with the molded door panels which are very clean and present in molded plastic and some padded white/cream vinyl.  Window cranks are in and the bar door actuator is nicely polished along with a mirror toggle for the driver.   Inside is just beautifully designed with the white vinyl high back buckets with some wide tuck and roll inserts and smooth bolsters.  Blue seat belts add some contrasting accenting and tie the interior to the exterior blue genre.  A blue center console races between the buckets and to the dash, and houses a shift lever, and glovebox which also serves as an armrest.  To the padded deep blue and very clean dash where all the essentials are within a wood appliqué dash that has round black faced gauges with white lettering.  Knobs and sliders are all in this panel and just below is the inset radio which is AM/FM.  A nice padded vinyl covered blue rally steering wheel from the factory is fronting the dash and it has drilled spokes in charcoal anodized finish in the center.  Deep blue carpeting is on the floors and is also very clean. This car has AC, heat power steering and is an automatic.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a nicely detailed and well kept engine bay which has a 350ci L30 numbers matching V8.  It is topped with a single 2-barrel carburetor and has a numbers matching TH350 3-speed automatic transmission attached to the rear.  Way out back is a 10 bolt 2.41 geared rear axle.  A dual Flowmaster exhaust replaces the factory exhaust and it's like new.  Supple hoses and wiring, a like new radiator, and a blue block and intake manifold are just a few of the highlights under this hood.  

Undercarriage
Very clean with a nice thick coating of chip off free black undercoating, and of course, no rust in sight.  Solid stamped floor pans and structurally sound unibody construction support the exterior clean body.  We note power disc brakes with independent coil sprung suspension up front and power drums brakes and leaf springs on back.  Nary any dirt under here as well!

Drive-Ability
I hopped in and felt like I was on a case whisking down the PCH from my trailer beachfront property.  Here all functions were working just great and the car ran just fab!  Smooth shifting and solid braking along with a smooth idea and nice acceleration.

Here we have a nicely preserved and non screaming loudly as to what it is model of the Firebird.  For the quiet suburban housewife or household which likes a spirit car but does not have to scream they have it.  Nice concept and not often seen in this format.
