This 1979 Chevrolet El Camino makes for a fun project with a proper small block at its heart. So whether you have a dream build already in mind or just know you want to restore something fun, you'll see this is a nice foundation.

This has the proper look of a speed machine. The front end announces it's something different with aggressive pieces like a cowl hood and hood pins. Plus, the light beige with hugger orange racing stripes painted on top looks like some of our favorite classic power Chevys. The rear looks smoother with a custom tailgate and custom louvered bumper. It all makes for a distinct style where you combine this with the value price to have a nice base for your custom classic. We see this as a foundation because the fit and finish of this El Camino are far from perfect. But you don't need to be paying extra when you already know you're going to make changes to create your ideal street machine. And this one really shows there has been an eye for the fundamentals, including a new spray-in bedliner and newer tires on those bright American Racing Outlaw-style wheels.

The interior is quite basic, but it does give you the right driver-oriented features and upgrades. For example, the seats are now comfortable high-back buckets, and you even have cup holders and an armrest console in-between. The upgraded woodgrain sports steering wheel is on a tilt column, and there's now a tach centrally mounted as your solo readout to focus your attention. The center section now has white-faced auxiliary gauges, a toggle switch panel, and a B&M Quicksilver shifter. This kind of setup already feels like a pro street machine, and so it's fun to drive today and get ideas for where you want to take it in the future.

Under the hood is proper small block power with Chevy's 350 cubic-inch V8. There are nice investments like a Demon four-barrel carburetor, a Holley Street Dominator aluminum intake, and headers feeding the dual exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. It makes for a strong cruiser today, and we bet you know how to do some weekend tinkering to unleash some serious power. Plus, we like how this is built to be a solid powerhouse with features like an HEI distributor and an electric fan. There are also easy-driving features such as power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission.

This is the classic El Camino that has you dreaming about what you can build with a nice base and plenty of cash left in the budget. Call today!!!
