Building on the legend of the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302, one of the most sought-after examples of American performance, the 2012 Mustang Boss 302, a street-legal race car was destined to be America's next performance legend.

Made at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan factory in April 2011, this version of Ford's performance limited production car was sold at Sunset Ford in Sunset Hills, a St. Louis, Missouri suburb.

Competition Orange with black trim, the car's paint and trim are in overall excellent order. This example is one of 1,135 Boss 302 models finished in this color in 2012. The bodywork is straight and solid, the glass and lights are intact and clear, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the cargo area is clean, undercarriage is clean, and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body.

This car rolls on Pirelli P Zero Summer radials, size 255/40ZR19 in front, and 285/35ZR19 in rear. Each tire is mounted on a black Boss alloy wheel. The tires are in very good condition and the wheels are in excellent order.

Under the hood is Ford's 5.0L DOHC 32-valve V-8 with twin independent variable camshaft timing (TI-VCT). It puts out 444 horsepower and 380 lbs-ft of torque and has a compression ratio of 11.0:1. The standard 2012 5.0-liter V-8 for the Ford Mustang GT has been enhanced for the BOSS edition with an upgraded intake system; a forged rotating assembly; CNC ported heads cast in 356 Aluminum, providing additional airflow and strength; revised camshafts, a high lift exhaust camshaft profile; and a high flow "runners in the box" intake taken from the 302R race car.

Sodium-filled exhaust valves, powdered metal rods and forged aluminum pistons were added. Exterior changes include a high-mount intake plenum with shorter runners to improve high-rpm power and a cross-bar.

Backing this motor is a six-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 Torsen rear gear. Driver performance & convenience features are plenty – air-conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering with three modes – sport, standard or comfort, four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power windows, power locks, tilt steering column, rear defroster, interval windshield wipers and remote keyless entry.

Safety equipment included anti-lock brakes, dual-stage front air bags, side airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, and stability control.

Inside, there are four-way manual Recaro front seats upholstered in Charcoal Black with gray embossed Boss 302. There is a matching black carpet and the shifter knob is a black cue ball lettered 1 thru 6. Dashboard is 'machined aluminum'. The steering wheel is Alcantara suede wrapped. Split-folding rear seat. The dash and inner doors look great, as does the center console.

The quad exhaust system is made up of two standard Mustang GT outlets and two side pipes that exit on either side just ahead of the rear tires. The baffle discs have been removed and are included.

The Boss 302 takes the Mustang GT's suspension and adds higher-rate coil springs, stiffer bushings, and a larger diameter rear stabilizer bar. The body is lowered 0.4 inches up front and less in the rear to give it a more raked stance designed to recall the original. The shocks are adjustable (5 positions) at the top of the shock by using a flat head screwdriver. The standard Mustang traction and stability control programs have been altered with a new intermediate sport mode designed to allow for more flexibility on the track. The aero package is almost entirely copied from the Boss 302R race car. The 19-inch black-alloy racing wheels are nine-inches wide up front and 9.5-inches out back and come with Pirelli P-Zero Summer tires.

Competition to this Mustang Boss 302 in 2012 included Chevrolet's Camaro SS and Dodge's Challenger SRT8.

If you're a Mustang fanatic and you missed out on the Boss 302 package when it was new, here is a second chance to own one. Stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check out this gorgeous car for yourself!
