12,445 Actual Miles/NM 318ci V8/Nice Paint/70's Green Interior/NM A904 Auto
For consignment, a 12,445 title verified actual mile 1973 version of the Dodge Charger which uses the “coke bottle” design, a sleek front grille, white vinyl top over Dark Green Metallic and nicely preserved chrome. The sleek sloping fastback and a side view definitely gives the look of a large pony car. I had the pleasure of taking my longtime girlfriend to the prom in my grandfather's Charger so I'll throw in a little Meatloaf as fluff for this description.
Exterior
A B body design, all body panels are bathed in the 1973 Mopar equivalent of F8 Dark Green Metallic. Wheel well surrounds and window surrounds, as well as the rockers and door edges have nice polished stainless as accenting. A shout to the B pillar where is utilizes a wonderfully curved wide surround and prepares you for the descent of the rear glass top the trunk. A white vinyl top that stops at the rear windows is fairly clean and in good condition. Beginning just behind the horizontal grille a thin highlight stripe undulates its way to the back and highlights the tops of the panels and the door sill. On back, in keeping with the car's sleek undulating lines are a pair of horizontal bar tail lights within a bumper in good condition. On all 4 corners are 14 inch Mopar road wheels. A menacing look for this long hooded, front grille wrapped in chrome 2 door powerhouse. “Glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife, C'mon hold on tight!”
Interior
Think Avocado and the early 70's refrigerators and stoves and this will conjure up the interior trimmings. Door panels, in green vinyl have vertical ribbed tops, a wood appliqué in the center and a smooth molded green vinyl below. Slipping inside features a like split back bench in front and a full bench in back. There is an adjustable headrest, and these chairs have tuck and roll stitched edge inserts which are slightly lighter green than their smooth vinyl bolster counterparts. The dash remains pure 1973, and shows with more wood appliqué for the front panel which is deep under the padded green vinyl topper. A gauge cluster is in front of a wood and vinyl 70's contemporary styled steering wheel which is also original to this car. It features a wood center which secretly creates the “fratzog” badge of the early '70's. Above is a tight green vinyl headliner. A shout to the trunk which has a gray carpet and a full spare and jack tightly bolted down to the back of the trunk. "I can see paradise by the dashboard light."
Drivetrain
In a green dark metallic engine bay sits a beautifully proportioned numbers matching 318ci V8 with stock exhaust and all painted glorious blue. It's all numbers matching for this drivetrain which has a 2-barrel carburetor, and a 3 speed auto A904 Torqueflite. On the back is an 8-1/4 inch 2.71 geared rear axle. "We were barely 17 and we were barely dressed…"
Undercarriage
Slightly aged black spray on undercoating is holding its own on this steel environment, and very little surface rust is noted. Independent torsion bar front suspension, and leaf springs for the back, and power disc braking upfront, and power drums for the rear. "Baby doncha' hear my heart…"
Drive-Ability
This grocery getter in style car from 1973 flexes at the turn of a key and off to the test track where it put a smile on our decoder's muscle car loving prom memories pretty face. Plenty of power, smooth acceleration, smooth shifting, and nice interior with all functioning..functions! (I love doing that!!). The only frown was the radio did not play the Meatloaf song I'm referring to and the turn signals did not blink. "Well I wanna make your motor run…"
A fab example from this consignor, and his car proves it. Beautifully done with a great color combo, extra features in metallic green, a mild engine, and all looking fab. Stop right there!!!
