11,516 Original Miles/Like New Leather/Service Records/4.6 Liter SOHC V8/5-Speed
For consignment, a GT version of the iconic Mustang, and a convertible for some extra fun. Hop in and run like the wild horses it is named for. Purchased new by our consignor in September 2001 from Keyser-Miller Ford after some influence by his friend in the body shop, our consignor traded in his 1990 Mustang GT and the rest as they say is history. With only having seen rain 3 times in its life (the 1st time was during the initial test drive), and only having been washed 4 times in its life, this 11,516 original mile example is a shining star in our Hallowed Halls. Our consignor has been fanatical with its care, with the car always garage kept and even going so far as to place his children in the car instead of allowing them to enter and exit on their own. I could use all caps for the description, but I'll allow you to visit personally or through the fantastic quality photos online and let it scream at you itself.
Exterior
Nice straight rust-free steel panels with their gaps very consistent, all bathed in Mineral Gray Metallic This smoothed over designed New Edge bodied version has body matching integrated bumpers, a hood scoop, the throwback to the choicely stick cove in the sides. A black canvas convertible roof with a glass rear window melts into the small rear deck with a rear spoiler. The only trimmings present on this car are all black and only around the glass which is factory tinted. Up front we note the iconic galloping horse in its corral floating in the grille and below are fog lights set into the neoprene bumper. On back the trio cluster of tail lights still persists and dual exhaust now protrudes from the bottom of the rear roll pan. GT badging adrons the fenders and makes another appearance on the beside the left tail light. 17-inch anthracite Bullitt wheels are on all 4 corners and the galloping horse also appears on the center caps. All nearly factory fresh, just the way Ford intended.
Interior
Articulated sport dark charcoal leather bucket seats, embroidered with prancing horse, flank a center console that has a spacious glovebox/armrest, cup holder, and the shifter for the 5-speed manual transmission. In back is a well cared for 2 plus 2 bench setup. Conveniences include power windows, power mirrors, power locks, a leather wrapped steering wheel with remote controls for feet free cruise control. Speaking of feet, you can take off your shoes and curl your toes in the thick black pristine carpeting in this pony car's floors. Factory air, premium sound (Mach 460 Sound System) and an AM/FM/ 6-CD changer stereo will make it that you'll never want to get out! And actually I have not, I'm literally writing from this car…now that's a first!
Drivetrain
The 4.6Liter SOHC EFI V8 engine with a 5-speed Tremec 3650 manual transmission is seen within the near perfect engine bay. On the back is a Ford 8.8-inch rear pumpkin, and a 3.27 Trac-Loc rear axle.
Undercarriage
It never ceases to amaze me observing the care these cars get by their obsessive owners, I'm moving into his garage! No rust unibody with the factory overspray still on, some surface rust on the usual suspects, but very clean overall with no runs drips or errors seen underneath. What I do see is independent coil sprung suspension for the front, and a 4 link with more coil-springs for the back. An original exhaust is on, and shiny brightly as are power disc brakes on all 4 corners.
Drive-Ability
This was a dual test driver car and my cohort crack decoder and mechanical confidant took it out for a spin. Here we experienced all working functions, smooth acceleration, quick bias free stopping, and overall low mileage feel and look for this drop topper. We thoroughly enjoyed our tenure behind the wheel, especially with the roar of the engine when we got goosey with our boots!
Low 11,516 miles on this 'stang which is an aero look, but still harkening back to its roots with the triple tail lights, inset round interior gauges, and hockey stick coves on the doors. Well maintained and painstakingly cared for by the original owner, with every service record, the original window sticker and the factory builsheet, this car looks and runs like it's new...because it almost is!'
