1969 Camaro ZL1 427 COPO

Allan Green Chevrolet Seattle, Wa. 1969 ZL-1 Camaro #27 COPO 9560 Aluminum 427 ZL1 and is one of the original 50 ZL1's sold to Fred Gibb Chevrolet, and was returned for redistribution due to the excessive cost of the ZL-1 option. This #27 was re-sold to Allan Green Chevrolet of Seattle, WA, in late 1969.
The first owner of the car was Dick Tutino, the service manager at Allan Green Chevrolet. Dick ran in NHRA Super Stock Class and was sponsored by Allan Green Chevrolet and Boeing Airplane Company until Allan Green closed in 1970. Dick sold the ZL1 to Chuck Sharin in the Seattle area in the mid 70's. Chuck bought the car to race it, and this ZL1 had no roll bar, no subframe connectors, no altered wheel tubs, and to participate with the fledgling NorthWest Pro-Stock cars, NHRA mandated it have a roll cage. As well car sorely needed larger tires and new wheels tubs to be competitive
So Chuck took #27 ZL1 to a Tacoma, WA chassis shop and he instructed that car was to remain NHRA legal for Mod/Prod and the factory steel floors had to remain.
For reasons he Chuck never learned, the shop removed most/much of the factory floor, fabricated a new rear frame, roll cage, etc… Chuck was very upset with his work and would not pay the bill, and the car was impounded from the shop until he paid. Finally, the court awarded Chuck the car back, and he didn't have to pay the bill, but had to source a replacement body to continue his racing and meet NHRA rules.

This Allen Green Chevrolet ZL1 427 COPO 9560 is in the ZL1 vin list and is #27 and is Also in Jerry MacNeish's book “The Definitive 1969 Camaro Fact Book” on page 231 and is also listed on the Camaro Research Group CRG.org ZL1 vin list.
