It is recently built with just test and tune miles on it. It is one of only 1,817 to receive the Pontiac W72 400. It is the first year the Trans AM Window Sticker would eclipse $10,000. On the heels of the Smokey & the Bandit phenomena and the success GM experienced with the 1978 Special Edition Corvette, Pontiac decided to celebrate the first decade of the Trans AM with a 10th Anniversary Edition. It was also announced that this would be the last year the Pontiac 400ci Engine. This unique car was also selected to be the Pace car for the 1979 Daytona 500! So there is no shortage of reasons to consider purchasing this special Anniversary Edition Trans AM. Dealers were quick to mark up these cars as much as 100%, an additional $10,000, as collectors scrambled to acquire one. But this is no ordinary 10th Anniversary Trans AM. Tens of Thousands of Dollars have been spent on the driveline in the TA. Everything is New front to back. The engine is a Fresh correct, one year only, PWH coded engine built to 350hp. That brings this Pontiac 400's performance up to Ram Air III and IV specs. This powerful engine is mated to a New Tremec 5 Speed Manual Transmission with a New Clutch. The Rearend is all new too. An Eaton Positraction unit was installed with New Gears. The Suspension is all New too. Global West Tubular A-Arms with Coil-Over Shocks up front and New Leaf Springs in the Rear. The ride height is lower than most Trans AM and the Handling is on-par with any Modern Muscle Car in the market today. You can't put all that performance into a car and not upgrade the brakes. So Baer Classic Series Disc Brakes are on all four corners. Larger rotors and multi piston calipers bring this Trans AM to a stop faster than any stock Trans AM. This low mile original panel 10th Anniversary Trans AM has mostly original paint and original decals. Bigger Wheels were required to clear those New brakes, so 17x9 Polished Snowflakes with 255x50WR17 tires are installed. This Anniversary Trans AM shines and shows well. The Engine compartment and the full undercarriage are fully detailed. You will not see a nicer Undercarriage or Engine Compartment on a Trans AM. Every detail is expertly done. There is a small fortune invested in this build. It is being offered at a significant savings over the cost to build.
