By mid-decade, it had become apparent that the Trans Am was the sole survivor. The trend continued for 1979, when the second-generation Firebird concurrently received its last facelift and spent its last year with available 6.6-liter power.” - Hemmings

This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is finished in its original color of Mayan Red over Carmine Red velour interior. It is powered by the legendary 400 cubic inch L78 motor mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This exceptional car is believed to have just over 20,000 miles. Purchased by our client in 2012 with 17,000 miles showing on the odometer.

The Mayan Red (75) paint shows very well aside from some imperfections on the trunk lid and rear spoiler. The exterior features a shaker hood with the iconic “screaming chicken.” The Carmine Red velour upholstery presents in like new condition. The dash and plastics are free of cracks and fading and the gauges are in working order.

Pump the gas, turn the key and this Trans Am comes to a quick start and drives as good as it did when it was leaving the Packer Pontiac dealership in Pontiac Michigan in 1979 for the first time.
