Description

1972 Plymouth Duster 340

The Duster, Chrysler's sporty competitor for the Chevy Nova and Ford Maverick, resulted from the Plymouth division's desire to use allotted 1970 restyling money for something more exciting than their usual two and four-door Valiants. If you're a hardcore Mopar fan who wants a smoking hot A-body to cruise around in and shred tires with, you've found your next car!

For consignment a fully restored Duster 340. This is a turnkey car for a Mopar fanatic who wants to get into the muscle car game for a very reasonable price. Tor Red paint will attract lots of eyeballs, and the combination of the 1972 340 and the light duty transmission with a column shifter will keep you under the insurance radar!

Exterior
This car bathed in Tor Red for the Plymouth (Hemi Orange for the Dodge) appears in overall very nice condition. Sculpted body panels, which add an unmistakable 70s flavor to the car's vintage design, are detailed with correct, new-for-1972 surface-mount marker lights. Between those marker lights, bold “DUSTER” fender stripes combine with slick fender mounted turn signal indicators to perfectly complement traditional chrome door handles and a stylish driver's mirror. And at the back of the car, a white valence hangs a centered “DUSTER 340” script between broad tail lights, a second original bumper and traditional stainless exhaust tips. MOPAR steel wheels with polished trim rings are seen all around. The straight hood is emblazoned with the 340 Wedge graphic and has no hood scoops to speak of.

Interior
A luxury vinyl bench seat stretches from black diamond paneled door to door. A rear bench is seen behind, and all seats are firm to the touch and show very little wear. True black carpeting floods the floors and nifty “Duster” branded floor mats are seen. A black dyed wood veneer dash houses near perfect gauges, the rectangular speedo radio and temperature controls. This veneer stretches to the glovebox, where it turns to brown wood adding an interesting contrast. Upper padded dash is very clean, and no cracks are seen. Lastly the headliner is pretty much showroom condition. The trunk presents with Avery nice liner, and totally new paint and rust free.

Drivetrain
A 340ci V8 sits in a beautiful engine bay, and sports a Mopar Performance intake manifold, long tube headers, a correct Mopar blue engine paint, and a chrome Holley air cleaner. It is not known is this is a numbers matching engine, however it was verified that it is the original 904 Light Duty automatic transmission, shifted from the column.

Undercarriage
Very clean, rustproofed and rust free with what appears to be a new fuel tank and upgraded dual exhaust. Manual disc brakes are all around, manual steering, and chrome exhaust tips. And a thorough examination of all the car's bushings, lines and hoses ensures it has road going reliability to match its eyeball-popping curb appeal.

As charming as it is cool, this clean classic wraps an original 340ci V8 drivetrain in Tor Red aesthetics that are guaranteed to turn heads. It's the perfect way for any enthusiast to grab a neat old car and enjoy every aspect of the hobby!
